Symptoms at 8 weeks?

I'm 8 weeks tomorrow and let's just say things have already been difficult. Had really bad constipation for 2 weeks, that seems to have eased. Itching skin all over and pain in my legs, hips and cramps which have eased by now. However, morning sickness has hit me like a tonne of bricks. I keep wretching and not wanting to eat or drink. Not even water! I have thrush which is refusing to clear up. Does it get better? I feel miserable and on top of this, I'm a key worker who has to go to work in the lab and still hiding it from my colleagues that I'm pregnant. Sorry for the rant, feeling pretty grim right now. How is everyone else doing?

It gets sooo much better! I found the first trimester extremely difficult (so nauseous and bile vomits every morning, food tasted like shite and I couldnt even eat chocolate ). 2nd and 3rd trimesters were utter bliss. Loved my bump, loved feeling baby kick, no morning sickness.
Good luck!!

Lyris · 14/04/2020 13:48

So sorry you are feeling so rubbish. I'm coming up to 9 weeks and have had a lot of nausea but no actual vomiting, just the odd wretch. I found that the nausea goes away if I eat something small, even if I really dont want to. But everyone is different and it may not help you but thought it might be worth a mention. Hope you feel better soon x

xxxemzyxxx · 14/04/2020 13:59

Bless you, it should get better and ease off once you hit 2nd trimester.

I would speak to your midwife about the itching though, they say this should be mentioned to them if you are having this symptom

bogoblin · 14/04/2020 14:10

You will feel better! Can't say when - but you will. You've already done 8 weeks of this, take each day at a time and you will be feeling better before you know it! Eating little and often helped me feel less sick - keeps the blood sugar up I think, but of course that's only useful if you can face eating. I snacked on malted milks for weeks! As well as drinking as much water as I could stomach

Rara88Cas · 14/04/2020 14:20

I'm so sorry you've all been so poorly, wish I felt a little more rough though! I'm 8+3 and other than sore boobs, the odd wave of nausea and dry mouth, I've not had many symptoms, being a bigger girl with PCOS I keep worrying that lack of symptoms is leading to MMC, however, as everyday passes I'm trying to become more rational and convince myself that MMC is still rare even though I'm high risk! just need to keep busy but all I have the energy to do is sit on the sofa eating crackers watching four in a bed!! haha!

Zaalfruit · 14/04/2020 14:26

It does get better - during the first weeks I struggled a lot . I still struggle now but it’s eased up.

I used force myself to eat and drink then vomit it all out . I went doctors and they gave me anti sickness pills you should ask for anti sickness pills that helped a little bit it helped me to function. As I was being sick every hour even a train ride to work was difficult the smells the heat would set me off .

bogoblin · 14/04/2020 16:37

@Rara88Cas I had relatively few symptoms, quite similar to you! They came and went a lot as well once I hit about 9 weeks. Didn't vomit, just felt sick if I didn't eat enough and I'm now 17 weeks! I had similar worries but MMC is really rare - when you go online and read about them you're reading about women who've had them sharing their experiences, not the millions of women who haven't had one, so it's totally skewed! You sit and watch Four in a Bed and eat those crackers, girl, I was exhausted in the first tri!

roro87 · 14/04/2020 16:42

I'm 7 weeks 3 days and have nausea and the odd wretch but not actually vomiting. find mine is much worse if I get hungry. I am totally irrationally terrified I'll go to my scan and it will be a mmc. I've no history or reason to believe this as this will fc be my first baby.

Rara88Cas · 14/04/2020 17:57

@bogoblin
Thank you so much for your comment - just helps reassure me when I know others who have experienced the same thing!
I keep going in circles about private scans, but we've decided to just cross our fingers and have faith that all will be well on 12 week scan!

Rara88Cas · 14/04/2020 18:00

@roro87
I was dry heaving around 5 weeks, but now I'm 8w3 I just have the odd wave! I'm worse if I'm hungry (first thing on morning) and late at night (tired). This is my first, and I think because we were told it was unlikely I feel very panicky!

roro87 · 14/04/2020 18:08

@RaRa88Cas I was told the same thing and when I went to my first gp visit she mentioned miscarriages quite a bit because my test wasn't overly dark although still clearly positive but her dates and mine are a week off so I think that is why. last one I did on 30th of march said 3+ so I'm taking it that it's ok. I just think I've also way too much time to think about things also because I'm working from home and lockdown. waiting on a date for my first scan

Rara88Cas · 14/04/2020 18:55

I'm the same! Working from home not being able to distract myself with decorating or visiting family and friends due to pregnancy and lockdown restrictions! I'm trying to tell myself that the nerves and worries are all part of an experiencing I've been praying for so I'm trying to embrace it!

Asianchick6693 · 14/04/2020 19:36

Thank you for all your replies everyone. I also have PCOS @Rara88Cas and I too have been panicking with every bit of pain and cramp I've been getting but I'm just going to hope for the best as my hubby told me to go off my instinct and no alarm bells have gone off so far so fingers crossed for us !

@Asianchick6693That's what we are trying to do, no bleeding no pain, everything's ok - I keep repeating that mantra to myself! Haha

2108Ta · 14/04/2020 21:30

@Rara88Cas @roro87 I’m so similarly to you ladies. To begin with had super sensitive boobs, tummy cramps and only felt sick but wasn’t physically as of yesterday, feel much better in every sense of it all- although I still napped today out of exhaustion. Terrified I’ll have a miscarriage of some kind or there will be no heart beat. I booked an early scan today and as soon as I could get is the 5th May so still 3 weeks away!l😓 just tying to keep positive and healthy 🤞🏼🤞🏼

roro87 · 15/04/2020 10:37

I can't book a private scan unfortunately due to them all being closed so now I'm patiently waiting my first one I'm hoping for the 11th of May as by my doctors dates I will be 12 weeks that day.

sel2223 · 15/04/2020 11:24

I'm 23 weeks now and it does get better! I would say my worst weeks were 7-11 and I asked myself every day if it was worth it but then I had my dating scan and entered the second trimester and suddenly things just weren't as bad
I still get sickness occasionally (once or twice a week instead of several times a day) and there are new symptoms like heartburn and a bad back to contend with but it's nowhere near as bad as it was in the early weeks.

Asianchick6693 · 15/04/2020 11:40

@sel2223 my bosses have allowed me to take a quick break whenever I feel sick to eat something to keep it down but its not going away today. I can't even be sick just keep wretching:(

Oh I really feel for you. I'm 25 weeks now and my sickness is a distant memory but it was so hideous. Got to the stage that I couldn't believe I'd ever feel normal again. I'd say around 8 weeks was when it was absolutely worst for me. I remember thinking that the second trimester felt really far away.

For me it got a little easier around 11 weeks. Still bad but not as bad. About 16 weeks I started feeling a lot more normal. By about 18/19 weeks it had gone completely.

Hope it passes for you soon Flowers

roro87 · 16/04/2020 05:09

Does anyone have random insomnia? I wake up between 3-5 every morning and struggle to get back to sleep for a good hour or two

Asianchick6693 · 17/04/2020 16:42

@roro87 I had this early on! Around 5-6 weeks. I found it really difficult. Exhaustion seems to have taken over now.
