Induction during coronavirus restrictions

Hi all,

I'm currently 40+6 with induction booked for Monday. I'm having zero signs of labour happening and at a sweep my cervix was firmly closed so not holding out for this to start naturally Hmm This is my first pregnancy and I was just wondering if anyone has been induced during the coronavirus restrictions and can give me an idea of what to expect.... Also we are a same sex couple and I know my wife is so so worried about bonding with the baby if I have to stay in a couple of days and she cannot visit Sad We have been told skin to skin immediately once home but does any one have other recommendations? Sorry for the long post! Lol!

I'm being induced this week too. Not much has changed except your partner isn't allowed to be with you until you're in established labour. The staff are all in masks, visors and gloves but other than that the process is as it would normally be. Tampon like pessary for 24 hours, if that doesn't work then they try a gel on the cervix. After that they may want to break your waters and if still no joy then they may put you on a drip to get things going.

Good luck!

They are trying to get women out asap so all being well you may be home the same day.

Good luck!

Has your wife considered inducing lactation? It’s hard work and definitely not everybody’s cup of tea but could be a lovely way to build a bond with a baby if she felt like it. It’s definitely not essential though, and she will build her own bond with baby in time just by being a loving and supportive parent and being involved in day to day caring.
