Pregnancy after copper coil removal

Hi lovelies

Hope you all are well!
I just wanted to come on and ask a quick question and see if anyone has experienced similar things

I had my copper coil removed 2 months ago and I have been trying for a baby.

After removal my period has been-irregular

Any woman experienced the same? And how soon after did yous fall pregnant ? If it's not to personal to ask!
I know it hasn't been long at all but was just wanting to see if the removal may delay/affect anything

Thanks xx

I had a copper coil too because they are so much easier than dealing with all the other hormonal birth control options. When I had mine removed last September the nurse said I should be good to go (fertility-wise) as soon as it was out.

I had been using clue to track my periods and ovulation (based on ovulation pain and sex drive) for about six months before I had the coil removed so even though my first period was a few days late we still managed to conceive in the first month trying - it was a HUGE surprise as I was expecting it to take about six months.

I would definitely recommend tracking your periods/ovulation if you're not already. And as I knew roughly when I ovulated we had sex every day for a few days before and after.

I do feel very lucky to be 27 weeks pregnant now. Good luck!

I don't think I had a regularly reliable period for about two months, and someone (non medical) told me that it would take two months for the hormones from the coil to stop 'affecting things'. Take that info with a pinch of salt, but it might be true! Took 9 months to get pregnant with the first (definitely due to stress and/or husband's health) and 4 months for the second. Good luck!

Yeah I preferred the copper coil as it had no hormones !
I have been tracking my period and ovulation so hopefully fingers crossed it happens soon!

Thank you so much for your replies much appreciated ladies! And good luck with the rest of your pregnancy hope you're well!

Ah, sorry, being stupid. I never remember which one is which! I had both but the hormone one before each pregnancy.

I had my coil out in November and fell pregnant after two cycles. I've been tracking my cycle for years, first on a hormonal coil, then on nothing, then on the copper coil, and now back to nothing, so I had waaaaaaaaay too much data to check out. Wink

My cycle is well within the range of "normal" but on the farther reaches of the normal scale. So it would range from 26 to 38 days, averaging over the years to 29, but that's a pretty wide range. It does seem to vary. In theory you can get pregnant immediately after removal (as above) but sometimes it takes a little longer...I kind of suspect my uterus needed the inflammation to go down a bit.

Track and take the recommended ovulation date with a pinch of salt, keep BDing through your cycle, hopefully all should work out soon!

Took mine out last June, went really irregular , took about 4 months to fall pregnant

I had a copper coil, was removed in dec 2018, I assumed things would take their course pretty quickly but it took my partner and I almost a year to conceive. I tracked my cycle/ovulation etc. Just try not to get worked up if it doesn’t happen right away, and best of luck! X

@mia22221 just wondering how you got on? I had my copper coil out end of January and have been trying to conceive. My periods have been regular but very light since it was removed Confused

mia22221 · 29/04/2021 23:36

@KimberleyT7 hey lovely! I fell pregnant 2 months after this post and now have a 3 month old baby 😱
I hope things work out for you, send you lots of baby fairy dust your way 💗💗xxx

My periods went light but then I had implantation bleeding to which was quite light for a few days but I thought it was my period xx

@mia22221 oh yay! Love a success story! Thanks so much for replying. I always think the worst so even though we haven’t been trying for long, I go straight to disaster scenario Smile Will keep trying!!!!

@KimberleyT7 no worries at all!! Aww to be honest I know how that feels, I was thinking the worst case scenarios then just put it at the back of my mind and didn't stress about it and it happened!! Mad how the brain works eh ha.
