Hi all, I’ve just found out I’m pregnant with our first child- about 6 weeks to be exact. Fortunately, I’ve not physically been sick but just feel a bit off and a bit queezy at the moment; however, my stomach cramps are constantly coming and going every few hours- is this normal? Due to current circumstances, I’ve not got my first midwifes appointment for another 3 weeks so not sure who to turn to.

I didn't see my midwife until 8.5 weeks. We had a couple of early scans at 6 & 8 weeks to make us feel better. I'm about 11.5 weeks now. Had cramps all the way through but not severe for sure. Just mild then the occasional twinge/pang. More so at this stage because ligaments are starting to loosen etc. Good luck and hope it's all fine ❤️

Thank you! Yes, they’re not severe but just like period pains which come and go- Nothing which stops me moving, just uncomfortable. Thank you again :) Good Luck to you too❤️

Congrats! I've always had strange, pulling sensations early on. occasionally like a period cramp, but more like a sudden, sharp pulling, ache which I could pin point. I find normal cramps are more all over the uterus and a constant ache, where as this is sharp and sometimes one sided (one side, then the next!). I'd read that its the hormones loosening the ligaments of the uterus.

Obviously anything that remains one sided, bleeding, dizziness etc you need to get to A&E asap.

Hey,

I'm now in week 22 with my first. My cramps lasted until about 16 weeks or so, on and off basically everyday. Not crippling pain but not pleasant either! I was told it was normal unless it was really severe with possible bleeding.

You're going to feel a bit worried until your first appt and scans but i'm sure everything is ok! Congratulations!

Hey, congratulations OP! I just found out yesterday, around 5+5 weeks now with our first and I'm feeling crampy too (read that it's normal, even expected as all our muscles start relaxing and responding to elevated levels of hormones). I'm having quite uncomfortable PMS-type cramping, but wouldn't say it's painful, just there, if you know what I mean...

I know what you mean...time is passing so slowly in lockdown waiting for these appointments!

xx

Thank you all! 🥰 I do feel much better after reading all your comments.

Yes, it will be a long 3 weeks and then another long 4 weeks until my first scan so fingers crossed🤞🏼

Congratulations to you all too! 💕
