Pilonidol cyst - anyone?!

This is such a long shot. Basically I had a pilonidol cyst 9 years ago and has surgery, but since this it never caused any problems. Anyway, I’ve been having ‘flair ups’ since the birth of my DD-1 two years ago and now I’m pregnant again. It’s developed into a full blown cyst.

I just wondered has anyone ever been in my position with a cyst and did you opt for a C-section as a result? I’m supposed to get referred to a general surgeon but in the current climate that may not be possible. I’m becoming really quite depressed about this ...

You need to speak to your GP. This is something that could potentially be managed conservatively or drained. I don’t think they’d do a Csection for a pilonidal cyst!

There’s no harm in asking! I have had recurring bartholin cysts (been on antibiotics over 10 times in 3 years for them) plus 2 surgeries under general anesthetiser and stitches. As a result I have a lot of painful scar tissue down there and a high chance of them recurring, as well as anxiety about that area being touched much in general. So I’m being considered for a elective c section because of this.

No experience with one during pregnancy but these fucking suuuuck and I'm sorry you're suffering with one right now. I've had one that flares up from time to time for years and I get it drained and packed or just look after it at home.
Hope your DR sorts this for you x

@Catlover10 that’s interesting, i have a lot of scar tissue too both from the pilonidol surgery and then a 3rd degree tear with my first baby

And yeah @Crackerscheesescabbyknees it’s really getting me down. I had years go by without ever thinking about it and then three weeks after my first was born they started up and have been recurring since.

@mamablondie it’s just awful isn’t it. But to be fair a lot of it is also anxiety based for me- I’m so panicky about that area in general and the thought of having to have more pain and stitches and issues down there again isn’t appealing. It doesn’t help that I have now developed gestational diabetes at 30 weeks so the baby is not going to be small. But I will really have to push for the c section still given this current pandemic and have no idea if they will actually agree to it yet. But there is no harm is asking and having a chat about it!
