Baby's movement

So I am 33 weeks +3 days and for the last 2 days or so my baby hasn't been as active as he normally is. I was eating dinner about 30 minutes ago (and drinking a cold soda with it) and about 15 minutes after I was finished he gots burst of energy and did his normal hard/big kicks/rolls that he normally does and then he stopped and I haven't felt any big movements since. Only 1 or 2 super weak tiny movements. I made the mistake of googling and read that decreased fetal movement accompanied by a surge of movement like that could indicate a stillbirth that's is going to happen. Is this true? Should I be concerned? I cannot call my doctor until Monday since tomorrow is Easter so should I go to the emergency OB Ward at the hospital and risk exposing myself to someone with Covid-19 or should I wait and call my OB when they open again on Monday?

Call your midwife or OB, straight away for any change in movements. I hope everything is ok.

Any change in babies movements always call your midwife. Where abouts are you?

Kinsey99 · 12/04/2020 05:43

No, go straight to the OB emergency ward and don’t wait. Always better to be safe. In the UK any change in movements and you’re told to get checked out.

Have you done the usual have a cold drink? Lie on your left hand side? I'm 34 weeks and her movements have changed but are still regular. I was also dehydrated which I noticed, so went in and was given fluids. Are you getting plenty fluid?
You should go in to hospital it will put your mind at ease.

SANDS don’t recommend wasting time drinking cold drinks and lying on your side anymore, they want any change in movement to be reported and checked out immediately.

@Umnoway around week 24 of my pregnancy I called my OB and told them that I thought my baby's movement had decreased (turns out he was just turned around in a weird position that made me feel less of his movements) and they told me to drink a cold sugary drink and do fetal kick counts. That's what most OBs in Colorado recommend when you report reduced fetal movement unfortunately. The lady time I called the office to ask my OB a question they transferred me to her and she sent me to voicemail and never called me back which is very frustrating Sad

@shittingmysel I tried the cold sugary drink (a soda with dinner) and he kicked hard and rolled around for a good 10 minutes like he's done all of my pregnancy (he's normally super active baby who kicks really hard) and then he stopped for a few minutes. I still feel him moving every now and then but they're tiny movements like little rolls and little soft kicks and they aren't very frequent which is unusual for him. It's been like this since yesterday so idk if he's just tired or in a weird position that makes me feel less of his movements. I've been drinking a bunch of fluids tonight so I don't think I'm dehydrated. I'm most likely going to go into the emergency OB unit tomorrow and have them do a stress test to put my mind at ease

Do you have maternity units in Colorado? (I'm in England so not sure how it works over there). I would contact the hospital just to be on the safe side, here in England any changes at all warrant a trip to hospital to be monitored. Hope your ok b

I'm at a similar stage in pregnancy. My baby can go quiet for days, just a few movements here and there then one day he will be really active. It totally stresses me out! I get regular monitoring at the hospital because of his movements and he is always fine. If you have any worries about movements you need to get checked out, everything is probably fine but for your own peace of mind definitely get checked.
