Have you given birth since lockdown?

I'm not due for a couple of months but I just wonder who on here has given birth since lockdown, either naturally or c-section, and what your experience was like? Trying to get mentally prepared if we are still in this in 2 months. X

Not me as I'm only 22 weeks but my friend just had a natural birth last week (first baby).
On the advice of her midwife, she stayed at home as long as possible so when she went to the hospital, she was already classed as being in active labour.
Her husband was there for the whole birth (he couldn't leave the room) then had about an hour with her and baby afterwards.
She went onto the ward for the night and he went home then he picked her and baby up the next morning (she had to be escorted out as he couldn't come in to get them).
She said the hospital bit itself was absolutely fine and she needn't have stressed about it so much, the midwife was lovely apparently. The bit she's struggling with is the aftermath.....the fact she can't have visitors, the new grandparents have only been able to see the baby through a window, no extra support etc. She's finding this bit really tough.

I'm wondering the same thing. I'm due July 20th and am fully preparing myself for this whole thing to still be on going. Though I'm more worried about the aftermath, am high risk of needing a c-section and I'm dreading having little help (just hubby) after the baby is born. My mum was going to stay with us for a week after but am not counting on that happening anymore.

I'm getting induced next week at some point and not going to lie totally bricking it... So much has changed in the past few weeks. I've gone from being checked in hospital every other week with various consultants etc... To phone call appointments. I've only gone in for scans and that was a surreal experience. Security on door, all staff wearing masks, hardly anyone in hospital.
All classes cancelled and the whole experience has changed.
It's my first baby and my husband can't be with me when I'm induced so finding it difficult. He can be with me when I'm in active labour but then has to leave. He won't see us again until I'm discharged and as I'm high risk already know I have to stay in for 24 hours.
I can't fault the staff and the care but it just doesn't feel the same and I was already anxious about giving birth and hospitals but it's much worse now.

@ChickenNugget86 I'm not being induced for another few weeks yet but I absolutely hear you. My first baby too, and the thought of my husband only being able to be there in active labour and for an hour after is so hard. I really hope you have a positive experience, albeit not the birth you imagined.

@ChickenNugget86 best wishes for your induction next week.I may be induced at the end of next week also. This is my second baby.My first labour was grand with induction and epidural.Im panicking I won’t be allowed an epidural (there won’t be anyone available to do it or its an unnecessary luxury and won’t allowed or something).hope you are ok.I wonder how my partner will feel having to go home after delivery this time.Anyway Im here to talk if you need.

Thankyou, I'm hoping it goes well. I had a scan on Thursday and the head is really low down. He/she is only weighing 5lbs at the moment and has gone below the graph on the chart. Went to the day unit for them to check over the heart rate and had a scare as the midwife pressed the red emergency button, next thing I know I'm being told to get up and wheeled down to the labour ward. Didn't have a clue what was happening and it looked like I was going to have an emergency c section. All these staff appeared and I was having all sorts done to me - blood pressure, heart monitor, ears checked. Thankfully it was a false alarm, the heart rate had dropped as the baby seemed to be lying on the cord. Not going to lie it scared me very much but was reasurred that the staff appeared from nowhere to help.

After an hour on the heart machine I was given the all clear and told that they would want me to have an induction early as the growth was a concern. I probably would be having it this weekend but they said with it being Easter weekend they would do it after Monday. They are making sure the wards are not over full. While my little scare was going on my husband was just in the car park wondering why my scan took so long. When I told him what had happened he felt so hopeless and upset then had to get over the shock he's going to be a Dad next week. I've had some wacky dreams last few nights.

I hope everything goes well for you. Its a stressful time to be pregnant x

@ChickenNuggett86 that must have been so scary and worrying for you.Its terrible that you were on your own with your husband outside.
There was a concern with growth with my first baby and one of the reasons I was induced. He was 5 13 when born.He was grand. So try not to worry.I am now worried this baby will be too big.He/she was 6lb at 34 week scan!
I hope you keep chatting on this and let us know was how you are.
