Feeling so anxious - pay cut

NC for this as I'm worried it could be outing, and I don't trust my employer.

I found out this week that my employer is imposing a long term pay cut on all staff (12 months) effective as of next week, due to the current situation.

I'm 10 weeks pregnant and haven't told anyone yet. I was offered a new job a few months ago but stayed with this employer as I felt their maternity package was generous, and I'd be in a better position.

If all goes well I'll be taking maternity leave from late October / early Nov. Our maternity package includes six months on full pay. Does that mean I should be entitled to my normal salary given that's still in my contract? Or will I have to take the 80% salary instead.

I know I need to ask, but as I said I don't trust my employer and I feel so stressed about having to reveal my pregnancy at this stage. I wondered if I have a right to demand my full salary as per the policy. This could be the difference between me taking a longer maternity leave or not.

Any ideas or advice?

Thanks all.

I don't think it would be wise to reveal your pregnancy at the moment. Wait until you have your 12 week scan and then inform them in writing of your pregnancy before asking the question would be my advice.

The maternity policy will say what the 100% salary is based on - normally it is based on your earnings between week 17 and 25 of pregnancy (in line with how they calculate statutory mat pay).
