Anyone else been told you won’t get the nuchal scan/combined test?

I’ve been told by my midwife that I won’t be able to have the combined test/Nuchal scan at my dating scan due to COVID.

I’m in Oxfordshire - here’s the note form the OUH trust website, before I query this with them on Tuesday has anyone anywhere else in the U.K. been told they won’t get this screening?

I thought this was a basic thing that every pregnant woman is entitled to?

@Annabel28 thanks for the reply. I think the situation re nuchal is changing daily, the ultrasound department confirmed that if they had enough staff they would be able to do the nuchal but if they were short on staff they couldn’t do it.

Can I ask when you first saw the consultant at JR (as in how many weeks were you?) my midwife at my booking in appointment said I had been referred to a consultant but I’ve not heard a word since and not really sure of the process. Maybe I don’t need to be seen due to my conditions just yet but rather later on in the pregnancy but the midwife didn’t seem to know?!

Handy to know about the private clinic - I will need to make a decision soon and also thanks re the group on Facebook I’ll take a look at that as had no idea about that :)

Also re the C-section I’ve done a lot of research into it (I have PTSD from previous gynae procedure and also scarring and various other surgeries) so was going to request a c-section, I even asked midwife at booking in and she said ‘it’s not something we just allow unless there’s a good reason’ she told me I would need to discuss it further with a consultant. I’ve looked at the Birth Rights website and they are currently in legal proceedings with OUH over their policy about not allowing c-sections.

Be interesting to see how you get on if you do request one, I’m going to request one but think it’s going to be difficult to get agreement from them :(

So in my first pregnancy in 2017-18 I was under obstetrics routinely because of history of MH problems (and medication I was on) and they first saw me at 16 weeks then 2-3 more times later on. The doctors were friendly but I wouldn't say I needed that extra input and I was planning to deliver on Spires MLU anyway... this time around I was referred for the same reason and I'm going to be seen shortly after my anomaly scan at 19 weeks (presumably to limit hospital visits they've coordinated it). I was so relieved to get an appointment so I can at least speak to an obstetrician about my birth options. I'm not 100% set on ELCS and part of me would like to retry VB, but the conversations I've so far had with the senior midwives have been so patronising and left me feeling I have no say over what happens to my body.

Thanks for your reply. Interesting as I’ve been referred to the consultant psychiatrist in the team due to MH and he’s supposed to be calling next week.

I just feel like their policy on c-section requests is a little unfair, especially if you have good reasons to request it.

I really hope that your appointment with the consultant goes well and that you feel you are listened to. Do let me know the outcome (when you know).
