Normal pregnancy symptoms or something else (CV?)?

Not sure where best to post this...

I'm 16 weeks pregnant and completely exhausted. Is this normal at this stage? This is my third pregnancy so I should know! But I'm older now so wonder if that's it.

I just did a five minute tidy up and have had to come and lie down. The thought of getting in the shower and washing my hair is beyond me and I've no desire to go outside even on this beautiful day...

Only thing is, my husband has pretty certainly had coronavirus (all the symptoms - highly unusual for him) and I had some milder symptoms last week and since then have felt incredibly fatigued. I'm sure I wasn't this tired at this stage of pregnancy in my previous two, and I managed two weeks of doing absolutely everything while husband was sick before - yes I got tired, but it didn't feel like this.

I'm just not sure how much I should be completely resting (ie assume Corona - or something else?! - and need to recover) or put some big girl pants on and push on through (ie this is just pregnancy at nearly 40 years old with two kids, crack on). I'm finding resting boring, but so easily completely exhausted doing anything else!

And should I tell my midwife (next appointment not for another 2 weeks)?

Anyone have any thoughts or experience that might help?!

How's your nutrition? You sound like you could be anaemic. I've had anaemia in pregnancy which leaves you flat out tired and breathless/light-headed. When was the last time you had bloodwork done? Did anyone flag any lower than normal results?
In the meantime, I'd talk to the midwife and ask about your last bloods and when you're due to have your next ones. Mention your symptoms and concerns and do mention the possibility of anaemia, which is so common in pregnancy. Good luck!

And also, pregnancy with two other kids to look after in lockdown is pretty tiring, so go easy on yourself. Flowers
I find myself lacking ANY get-up and go! I'm 48 and definitely not pregnant Grin but I do think that there's a physical low that's part of the lockdown package. We're not getting out much and I think it puts us into a state of semi-hibernation.
In your case though, I'd be looking into the possibility of anaemia.

Oh, thanks. I hadn't considered anemia. Will have a look at my last results - nothing was flagged then. I do look pale though. And yes - trying to unpick the cause of my fatigue is really tricky in these completely unprecedented times! Feel it could be so many things - just know it doesn't feel right.

Thank you for your suggestions xx

I'd listen to your body. I've just come through what I think was mild CV and I felt fine as long as I was laying down. Within a few mins of being upright I was beyond exhausted. Whether it's CV or pregnancy, if you feel like you need to lie down....that's your body telling you that you need to lie down! You don't need to push through, and if you've got a virus you absolutely need to rest. Maybe speak to your midwife if it continues? But be kind to yourself, there are no prizes for pushing yourself beyond your body's capabilities. Growing a human is a massive job! X

Thanks maincat. How long did you feel like that?

I plan to rest as much as I can over the weekend and if not improving next week I'll give the midwife a call.

I was exhausted with muscle aches, headaches etc for about 5 days. Then a cough started on day 6. Take it easy and hopefully the midwife can give you some advice. Xxx
