I’ve just ordered this and was wondering if anyone else has used it and if you got any stretch marks?

My friend was using this but she seemed to still get a lot of stretch marks :(

PlanDeRaccordement · 07/04/2020 17:25

I used pure cocoa butter and have four small stretch marks, one for each pregnancy.

WanderingTrolley1 · 07/04/2020 17:29

Nothing will remove them. Acceptance is the way forward.

Melbs6 · 07/04/2020 17:41

I’ve been using cocoa butter up until now but my bump has just popped (I’m 21 weeks) so looking for more protection. It’s a shame it didn’t work for your friend though Olivia 😔 they claim to have an 82% success rate so I wonder how accurate that is...

WanderingTrolley it’s to prevent stretch marks rather than to remove them. It’s the only scientifically proven method of preventing them apparently so fingers crossed.

When do stretch marks tend to appear?

kittykat7210 · 07/04/2020 17:53

There is no scientifically proven method to stop them, there are claims bio oil, cocoa butter and other such bump butters/oils reduce the risk of stretch marks. But there’s no proven method because you can’t prove that person would ever have gotten stretch marks in the first place.

There is no cream that can prevent stretch marks. They happen on a layer of the skin deeper than any cream can penetrate. The only way to prevent them is to a) not change shape or size at all (good luck) or b) be genetically lucky.

By all means rub in some normal creams if they make your skin feel nice, but don't waste your money on snake oil in the hopes of preventing stretch marks.

KaronAVyrus · 07/04/2020 17:59

It’s pretty much genetic whether you get stretch marks.

Melbs6 · 07/04/2020 18:21

It’s not a cream, it’s a band that goes on your bump that helps with pressure changes in the dermis (the layer of the skin where tears happen which leads to stretch marks). It’s clinically proven so just hoping to hear from people that have used it

I have been using this kit since about 22 weeks (when I had a big enough bump to feel it was snug rather than loose) and so far I’ve not had a single mark. Am currently 34+4
It’s also helped a lot with lower back ache, which I would get a lot, plus it feels really supportive if I’m on my feet - going for my daily walk, doing housework etc.
I know creams alone can’t do anything other than make your skin feel nice but this, for me anyway, does seem to be helping x

ShirleyPhallus · 07/04/2020 18:29

I moisturised religiously with my pregnancy and felt incredibly smug and pleased that at 39 weeks I had not a single mark

Then about 39+1 they pretty much appeared overnight and I cursed myself for being so smug

LBB2020 · 07/04/2020 19:05

I didn’t get stretch marks until after I’d given birth! I was gutted as thought I’d got away with it!

raspberrycordial · 07/04/2020 19:12

Unbelievably I got no stretch marks with my first (although I got them on my thighs and boobs as a teen) and used secret saviours with my second-no stretch marks either. I found it a bit annoying and was glad to see the back of it at the end. I guess nothing is guaranteed but now you know about it, if you didn't try and you got stretch marks, you'd always wonder wouldn't you?

grey12 · 07/04/2020 19:32

I have stretch marks on my thighs..... but none from 2 pregnancies!!! Ok maybe a little on my breasts... big boobs, 2 BFs...

I use sweet almond oil after the bath (still damp). The key is to rub it in well. Circles, loops, around, up and down.... go for it.

Apparently rosehip oil is very good! But it smells... i used it when for some reason my belly skin felt itchy.

And don't forget after the baby comes out to continue it.

PS: i am very lazy.... the reason I started with the almond oil was because I can't be bothered with applying moisturiser. Oil on damp skin takes 5 seconds to apply.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 07/04/2020 19:44

ShirleyPhallus The exact same happened to me!

39 weeks with DC1 and one of the fuckers raised its red ugly head. I only got a few small ones and they faded very quickly after birth but I was furious! If I’d used any product I would have attributed the fading and reduction in size to that as opposed to just the luck of the draw.

It’s definitely genetic- my mum had zero stretchmarks with my sister and I (twins), and dsis and I were both lucky to get away with either none or very small ones over three pregnancies.

FantaFruitTwist9 · 07/04/2020 19:54

I used Secret Saviours from 16 weeks and didn’t get any stretch marks so would recommend, thought it was definitely worth the money. I also used the Palmers stretch mark lotion on an evening an hour or so before applying the Secret Saviour night lotion. Regardless of if the band actually stopped the stretch marks it really helped make my bump feel supported and helped with back ache.

Adzykatherine · 25/03/2025 16:30

I’m late to the party but incase anyone else finds this. I bought these recently - currently pregnant with twins so invested. After 5 hours of wearing my skin was red and inflamed and got progressively worse. The GP said he’d never seen anything like it and referred me to minor injuries. I’ve never had sensitive skin or reacted to anything before. Based on where the reaction is I think it was the dots. Just sharing so people can be careful as it’s been a brutal journey.
