Low lying placenta - not moved enough

Hi all,

Just wondering if I can get anyone’s experiences?

At 20 weeks scan, it was discovered that I had a low lying placenta which needed to be checked again at 32 weeks.
I went back today and it’s not moved enough..so need to go back at 36 weeks.

Did your placenta move within those 4 weeks? Or did it not?

I’m not worried I’m just curious to how many women have had this etc.

Any personal experiences would be great to hear 😊

Interested to know as I have a low lying placenta too.... out of interest is it anterior or posterior?

Hope it moves for you soon Smile

Also following as mine is low lying. Would like to know experiences of peoples that didn’t move. Have heard you can admitted from 36 weeks until c section can happen at 39 ish weeks... is this right? X

I have a posterior placenta.

One of the reasons why I want to know peoples experiences as I hear they don’t let you go to due date x

I'm 31 weeks, had a bleed at 26 weeks. Mines also posterior and Previa. Got a scan on the 20th to see if it's shifted and to find out how early they'll do the section. I don't think they want you to go too far as the risk of going into labour and causing a big bleed is higher

This happened to me in my last pregnancy. I actually had 2 lobes to the placenta so they were sure it wouldn't move. At my 36 week scan, the sonographer diagnosed vasa previa as well as placenta previa which can be dangerous to life so I was kept in there and then and I had a c section the next day.
Prior to this, I had been told they would do the c section anywhere between 38 and 39 weeks.

Mine is anterior and low, would there be any difference in what they did as it’s at the front rather than the back do you know?
Did you have to have an internal scan for it? X

I believe anterior is more likely to move out of the way, but can be more pesky during the csection if it hasn't moved.
What is Vasa Previa? Sounds scary

The c section anterior thing is on my mind, and asked midwife, as due a section anyway, but she said it was fine! Doesn’t feel fine in my head!!! X

I had complete placenta previa diagnosed with my first pregnancy. It was totally covering the cervix so no chance of it moving. It was anterior. I had a bleed the day after it was confirmed at 32 weeks. They wanted to admit me to hospital at that point but as we lived so close I was allowed to go home.

Baby was delivered at 36 weeks by c section after a second bleed and was completely fine.

I met someone else who had placenta previa and she didn't have any bleeding at all, so it really is case by case. I have also heard that if placenta are anterior its.more likely they will.move as your belly is expanding.

In terms of anterior c sections, my mine was absolutely fine. They did have extra blood on stand by and a senior consultant did the op, but in the end I was told my bleeding was only on the higher end of normal and it wasn't needed.

Good evening, mine was also posterior and hadn't moved by my 32 week scan. Got prepped in the mindset for a section as they basically said it wouldn't move but it did in time for the 36 week scan.
