Cows milk protein allergy (go dairy free or not?)

Hi everyone!

My first DD was born by emergency C section and had cows milk protein allergy (often confused with a lactose intolerance) which made the first 4 months really tough until I figured out what it was. I breastfed and stopped dairy and it helped a lot (all under the guide of the doctors)

I'm 32 weeks pregnant and wondered if any of you had this and did you cut out dairy again in preparation for the baby and breastfeeding? I know it takes 6 weeks to fully leave my body so would have to do it in advance.

Don't want to cut it out of not needed though. Health Visitor clueless as is midwife!!!

Any anecdotal advice please?

Dairy free does not always mean cows milk protein free. You need to check the allergens on the packaging.
My eldest had this issue as a baby. I cut it all out but it was not really sustainable for us. So many foods excluded and it wasn't a life threatening allergy. It affected her but proportionally to the amount she ate. So I just made sure she only had small amounts of foods that affected her. She grew out of it by 5. I think it's very common to grow out of.

I wouldn't cut it out unless it becomes clear that its necessary.

There is a worry that because my DD has never been exposed to nuts due to my severe allergy that this is going to make her more susceptible to nut allergy. We are awaiting in-hospital challenges so that they can monitor her response to her first try of peanut.
