Silver Cross Horizon

Hi,

We were offered my SIL's old Bugaboo Buffalo but as it's so old it would be expensive to buy all the adaptors and extras needed to fit the car seat, carrycot, etc., plus we don't like the idea of buying a car seat that's already been out for three/four years because of how frequently the specs and safety measures are updated.

We're considering getting the Silver Cross Horizon pram, as I like the idea of being able to use one thing from birth, and not a fan of separate carrycots as they only last a few months and we have limited space at home. The travel system (frame, seat, newborn insert, rain cover, changing bag, car seat and ISOfix base) is currently on offer for £695, which I think is a good deal. Has anyone used it who could give me their insight?

We have a silver cross pioneer and a pop.

I despise the pioneer love the pop!

P.S. This is our first baby and we have very little experience of babies (never pushed a pram/never changed a nappy), as we only see DH's SIL two or three times a year and none of my siblings have children, so any general insights into prams would also be appreciated!

@Theyweretheworstoftimes Oh, the Pioneer seems quite similar to the Horizon. What particularly makes it such a pain for you?

I have the oyster 3 which is lay flat from birth so didn’t need a carry cot, it’s light weight and folds down really easily, I have the joie I-level car seat and Isofix which you can buy adapters for so you can put the car seat on the pram base, I love it, pram and car seat all came to £750, I don’t know much about the silvercross but personally I didn’t like them at all when I had a look, I know it’s really hard with all that’s going on but I wouldn’t buy anything until you can go push it and see how it folds down etc as I thought I’d love the egg and really didn’t when I got to mothercareSmile

If the Buffalo would suit your life i'd take it, honestly don't spend on unnecessary stuff if you don't have to and it's a decent bit of kit!

Adapters are about £40 and there are lots of car seats which fit including models that were brought out when the legislation last changed about 2 years ago. But do remember that babies shouldn't be in car seats for long anyway so using on the pushchair isn't really ideal for anything other than a quick dash if it's unavoidable.

We bought adapters for ours and think I used it twice over 2 kids!

Also worth noting that Silver Cross car seats don't usually fare well in safety tests - they do the job but there are safer models on offer

It's heavy and hard to push and generally I hate it,

I had a c section and within 8 weeks I got the pop out, pop is lightweight easy to steer easy to push.

I have taken the Pop on 20 flights and it looks brand new.
