How long does it take to regain your figure after birth?

How long will it take for my pregnancy stomach to return to normal after giving birth - is it a matter of weeks? Months?

I'm due to give birth soon and have put on about 1 and a half stone during this pregnancy, so I've probably gone up at least one dress size at a guess.

I don't have any clothes to wear post-birth except my maternity stuff, which will be quite baggy round the stomach, and my pre-pregnancy wardrobe, which will probably no longer fit!

About 6 months. Had to properly diet and exercice to lose the last few kilos. It was harder the second time. I'm normally a size 8/10, eat healthy and exercise regularly but i put on around 20 kgs each pregnancy despite my efforts not too.

I was back in pre pregnancy clothes quite quickly but my body was never the same! When I was put on anti depressants I did balloon up then stopped taking them when I got pregnant (under doctors orders) and I think the weight gain from the anti depressants has been coming off as I’ve been putting it on from pregnancy, I’m only 3lbs up at 32 weeks and my weight hasn’t moved for 4 weeks

Positive story... It took me about 2 weeks for stomach to deflate, about 4 before I could move normally and exercise fully again, and stomach is gradually hardening up now at 6 weeks (it was like a spongey, mouldable sack after birth)! I "look" back to normal in clothes.

My mum told me it was this fast, and I didn't believe her, but she was right... genetics?
I also exercise a lot - cut somewhat because of isolation, but still able to run, doing ~11km 3 x a week.

My stomach retracted back as soon as my daughter was born and that's no exaggeration. I had a retained placenta and was being rummaged around inside for over an hour so I don't know if that helped but it was flat straight away the midwives couldn't believe it and neither could I. Size 10/12 and I gained about 1 stone during pregnancy.
