I feel very anxious with all what in the news about corona virus and I feel scared to attend midwife appointments as I don't want to catch anything and the midwife would
Of seen other people before me I don't know what to do anyone else feeling like this at currently 22 weeks pregnant

You’re far more at risk from things not being picked up at midwife appointments like pre-eclampsia than you are from getting corona virus from the midwife.

Go to your appointment - not doing so is the risky thing, not going.

I had my 25wk midwife appointment this morning. At my surgery the main door is locked, they only unlock the side door when you knock and the waiting room had been visibly bleached and I was the only person in there.

The midwife wore a mask and said she was sterilising everything between appointments. I didn't touch my phone until I got back home just in case and washed my hands thoroughly when I got in. So although you can never completely limit risk it seemed like they were taking all the precautions they could.

I've been to midwife and scan appt on my own since the CV restrictions have been put in place and both were fine. It's nerve wracking but it's also really important to attend so they can monitor you and baby. If you can ring your MW and talk it through beforehand that may help.

For MW I had to ring the bell to get in and there was nobody else there. She wore an apron and gloves and I sat on the bed away from her instead of on the chair next to her desk. When she took blood, bp and listened in I faced away from her and she did it quickly and from as much distance as was possible. Appt was limited to 15mins too (if poss).

For scan the chairs in the waiting room were blocked off and a line marked around the reception desk to ensure 2m distance. I just stood instead of sitting down on a chair others had used. For the scan the sonographer was obviously next to me but the other staff stayed at other side of the room.

For both appts I didn't touch anything I didn't absolutely have to and took nothing in with me - no bag, phone, jacket. I wiped my car key and notes down with an antibac wipe when I got in the car and antibacced my hands.

It was strange but not too bad and I felt reassured that both the surgery and the hospital were practically empty and that the staff were obviously taking all necessary precautions xx

It’s a highly anxious and stressful time to be pregnant isn’t it OP, you’re not aloneFlowers

Hope this doesn’t scare you just want to share my experience. I became very ill after going for a growth scan a week ago. I’m certain it’s the virus. The department didn’t seem very organised. No washing hands, no wiping down of door handles, no PPE whatsoever (not their fault I know) and they were doing appointments in double rooms so I saw my midwife after my scan in the same room as someone else. Not very efficient IMO but I don’t think everywhere will be the same. If it’s just a specialised midwife base then it’ll be easier for them to maintain hygiene and separate patients
