First pregnancy, 'high risk', bleeding and clueless

Hi all

I hope you might be able to offer me some words of encouragement or advice.

I found out on mothers day that I'm expecting which we never thought would happen due to age (36) and hormonal conditions I have. Again due to these, I am high risk of miscarriage and complications. I am 6w+6.

I am awaiting my first appointment with maternity services and have no contacts etc there at present.

Last night around 8pm I went to the loo and when I wiped there was a small amount of rust coloured blood. Because this is my first time I'm clueless on so much but google led me to the fact this could be because of changes to the cervix and we had been ... intimate that morning.

Later on I had a couple of twinges on one side. I wouldnt say cramps, more like random stabbing pains. Again because of the conditions I suffer with, this isnt necessarily unusual for me and I tend to get them all over. Not sure if I'm only noticing these ones because of the blood.

Have woken up and cant get back to sleep and have just been the loo and on wiping this time it's much fresher blood (pinky) and a bit more of it.

I dont know what to do now, do I just wait until the GP opens at 8.30 and see what they say?

Thanks for any help and advice.... keep your fingers crossed for me

I'd try and lie down and rest if you can and then give your gp a call when they open. There's no way of knowing if it's anything to worry about unfortunately, but I know a little bleeding early on can be common. Try not to google it and see if you can sleep which I know is harder than it sounds! X

Also all fingers crossed for you xx

I bled very early on, panicked and went to A&E where I was wrongly told I'd miscarried. I am currently 39 weeks pregnant and due to meet my little one any day after a very smooth pregnancy. Do not panic! Unless there is a lot of blood and it's very red, I would just take it easy and wait. I also had cramps and period pains for a number of days. Again just try to remain calm - everything will probably be fine 😊

Thanks guys.

I spoke to EPU, basically because of the current situation theres nothing they can do so just have to sit tight and see what happens and take another test in 10 days
