12 weeks with DC4, unplanned and nearly aborted but decided in the end to carry on. Had some bleeding yesterday which oddly stopped when I got to the hospital, but they couldn't find a heartbeat with the Doppler; a scan showed the foetus had stopped growing at about 7.5 weeks and no heartbeat. I have to go back on Monday and if I haven't miscarried properly by then they will give me pills to induce it. Since yesterday I've had only a little spotting so that way looks likely.
As I said it wasn't planned, but now I feel so sad and wretched. No-one but DH knew I was pregnant and I don't really have anyone to talk to. My sister gave birth to a baby girl a few days ago so obviously my family is awash with baby talk and I wouldn't want to put a dampner on my sister's happiness by telling her. I am supposed to be 'at work' (at home) on Monday; they don't know either.
Mostly I would like to know how long it will all take (assuming I take the pills)? Will it be painful (childbirth-like or a bad period)? How long before I may start to feel normal (and not longing to be pregnant again which is obviously a bad idea)?

I'm afraid I don't know the answers to any of your questions but I just wanted to say I am so, so sorry. I can't imagine how you are feeling. Rest up, be gentle with yourself. I hope someone will be along soon to answer your questions. Flowers

I'm so sorry OP Thanks I hope you have support at home.

I've had the tablets before. The process started for me within two hours of taking the medication (I had a pessary followed by the oral tablets). There was a fairly large amount of blood and clots, and for me it was painful - but it's short lived, everything passed quite quickly and after that it was just like a period. I've heard some women find it just a bit crampy though. I do have painful periods so that might be why I found it painful. They did warn me that you can be sick, and I did vomit a couple of times through the initial process of passing the clots etc.

Once the initial few hours of heavier bleeding were over (probably about two-three hours), it was just period-like bleeding for a couple of weeks after that.

Did they offer you alternatives such as surgical management? I've also had the MVA procedure which personally I preferred as although it was very painful it took five minutes. Also, you don't have to have the tablets if you don't want to. You can also choose to wait for it to happen naturally if that's your preference.

Tell your work you're not feeling well if you don't want to tell them, give yourself chance to just veg out on the sofa and be sad.

I felt physically normal fairly quickly afterwards, although a bit crampy and weak for the first week. The bleeding lasted for a couple of weeks and varied from being heavy to being hardly anything.

I'm now nearly 30 weeks pregnant and everything seems to be going well, but give yourself a lot of space and time to decide if it's something you want again or not, either choice is so valid Daffodil
