Hi all;

Any top tips for the immediate 24/48 hours post c section and beyond to help recovery? I have big pants, peppermint tea I think I’ve seen before...anything else?

Keep up with regular painkillers, don't leave it until you need them

When you get out of bed, roll onto your side and get up that way.

If you sneeze/cough use a pillow pressed to your middle to keep everything in place so you don't strain yourself.

Get as much rest as you can,it's a big op.

Make sure you're not constipated so up your fibre before the birth.

Good luck Flowers

Agree with PP but also try and walk within reason as much as possible. E.g don't stay in bed.

Keep moving. They get you up relatively quickly after and when you're confident, move as much as feasibly possible. And keep on top of your pain meds; don't wait for it to hurt.

Take a strap (I used the sort you use to tie stuff onto a roof rack) with you to loop over the end of the bed - easier to pull yourself up with your arms.
I used a belly bandit wrap - felt like it was keeping everything in place which made me feel better.
I had a cold with mine (came on as we were waiting to go to theatre...) which made me cough - pillow did nothing - still felt like my insides were about to burst out!
Take a step or something similar to elevate your feet for the first bowel movement - makes it easier to go (was actually surprised the hospital wasn't on the case with this).

Keep going with pain killers, even a few days down the line. I missed one about 5 days in and was in agony. Get up as soon as possible. Prepare for a very sore back! I couldn’t lie down flat for over a week.

I started taking stool softeners before the birth and prune juice every day before and after until I was comfortable my stitches wouldn’t explode.

A pillow to press on the wound for the car journey home. Laxatives for afterwards.

Windeze.
Don't sleep lying flat. Use pillows to prop yourself up.
Get more windeze.
And then get another packet of windeze 😁

Hello,
I had a c section last week, I recommend taking all the pain killers you can get and never be afraid to ask. I tried to keep on my feet for as much as possible and I’ve been walking around doing most things as I would. I haven’t let it take it over me and I’m breastfeeding fine. It’s important to rest of course but I’ve not don’t a lot of resting and I’m pretty up and running. I’ve had a good experience overall with still some pain but it’s very manageable xx I did need a hand getting up from a low bed and chairs, only sleeping on my back still and going to the toilet is not the best experience. Good luck xx

Oh and don’t laugh, felt like I was going to explode when I laughed for the first time.
