Second baby movements with an anterior placenta

Just wondered when to expect kicks and punches with a second baby and an anterior placenta. First time round I didn’t have an anterior placenta and felt movements around 20 weeks. I’m currently 17 weeks with number two and just curious...

Hi I am having my first and felt very muffled kicks which feel a bit like bubbles or twitches from 21/22 weeks but very sporadic. Looking forward to when I can feel definite kicks which my midwife said should be by 28 weeks.

2nd pregnancy, 2nd anterior placenta 🙄

This one has been a lot clearer with movements than the last- have really started feeling baby more in the last week or so (28 weeks now) but sometimes do have to stop and concentrate on it to reassure myself. I bought a band off the kicks count website to help me keep track of its movements as my last one was not a mover at all!

I've started feeling movements around 20 weeks. More muffled than with my first though.

@schafernaker that’s reassuring. It’s hard not to get anxious when everyone asks about movement. I am almost 24 weeks and can go all day without feeling anything and also when I do feel something I sometimes question if it’s the baby or not.

@missdrifter it is hard! I’m super anxious as during my last pregnancy little one did stop moving and it was an indication of a problem with the placenta causing IUGR so ended up with a 33 weeker 🙈

It does feel different this time though and I’m putting that down to being second baby 😊 just keep a close eye and if you’re ever unsure call up and get checked out. Not ideal at the moment I know, but better to be safe than sorry

3rd baby and first anterior. About 20 weeks before I felt anything. 28 weeks now and lots of big kicks all day (and all night!)

Thanks everyone. Looks like it’s much longer than pregnancies without an anterior placenta!

@Missdrifter don’t worry, I’m your first pregnancy it’s normal to wait longer got regular movements, that’s why I specifically asked about second pregnancies, as it usually happens earlier.

This is my 3rd baby and I have an anterior placenta, I felt definite movements at 22+2.

sel2223 · 28/03/2020 13:55

First pregnancy here and got told at my anomaly scan I have a high anterior placenta.
I'm 20+2 and felt no movements yet

My second baby I had anterior and I felt movements more earlier on and less so towards the end - ended up on monitor several times. When Ds was born, he was nearly 10lbs and the surgeon said it was the largest placenta he'd seen in quite some time. Several people came to have a look at it apparently. There were no problems it was just large and muffled lots of movement.
