I just had a positive HPT. I believe I am 5 weeks. I was only diagnosed with PCOS last week so it feels like a miracle that I am pregnant without having to really try as some couples do. I am worried about being pregnant whilst this coronavirus situation is ongoing. I'm worried I may be neglected. What's next for me? I don't know how to proceed. GPs are closed or only taking phone appointments.

Congrats! In most areas GPs aren’t really involved anyway unless they need to be. I would check online or call your GP to find out how to refer yourself to your community midwives - my trust has an online form to fill out and then they called me a few days later to arrange my first appointment. Your booking appointment is the first one and feels like a lifetime away because the first few weeks of pregnancy are the longest imo.

Don’t worry too much about the coronavirus situation, it’s a bit shit but equally I’ve loved having a baby to focus on during this difficult time and the sonographers and midwives are all fab during this. I had my 20 week scan today and they were so careful and calm and lovely. Good luck X

Thank you for reassuring me. I feel so anxious but I think it's just the fact everything is all so new to me!

Hi congrats.
I found my hospital self referral form online by googling. I haven’t had to involve the GP.

Hi, congratulations! I'm in the same boat, 5 and bit weeks too, first time, and then with added Covid19, not quite sure, what to expect, if we will need to do anything differently in terms of appointments etc. But I'm confident they will tell us everything we need to know and a caring support way :). Good luck xx

Congratulations! I just found out Monday I'm pregnant so I know exactly how you feel. I phoned my doctors and they booked me in with a midwife who will attend the practice to see me. Mine is end of April and I'm hoping nothing will change and I still get to go there. It is a worry but pregnancy is an essential service so we will still be seen Smile I'm just sad my dh won't be able to attend our first scan but I'm hoping by the time 12 weeks comes this might change

Asianchick6693 · 28/03/2020 01:07

Thank you everyone! Sorry to hear about that tossacoin1 hopefully that changes like you said! I have to ring my gp on Monday now. I was actually on a drug Metformin last week to help me with my hormonal imbalance from PCOS but I was having terrible constipation and pale stools sorry TMI which was unusual as the drug causes loose stools but it makes sense now! I don't know if I've done any harm by being on the drug too. Been feeling super anxious since but will have to wait and see xx

You’ll probably need to self refer online and select your local midwife team and then you’ll get a date and location for your booking appointment which at the moment should still be face to face, some following ones will be phone ones. You’ll have to go to these alone but it’ll be fine. That happens around 8-10 weeks, mine was at 8 weeks, then providing everything is ok, the next milestone after that will be your 12 week scan.
