Am I just being a massive hypochondriac?

I have regular monitorings at the hospital due to having reduced movements. I'm 36 weeks today. The last few times I have been in there has been protein in my urine, and my blood pressure has risen. Not really high, but high enough to notice a spike. I had some blood tests back and it came back that I have low platelets, but they weren't concerned because this is the second time they have seen this on my bloods so it's not 'new' (news to me, though). I called the labour ward last night because my hands and feet were swollen, and I had a headache. I ended up going in and they monitored baby who was doing great, did my BP a few times which started off a bit raised but eventually went down to 132/83. The headache wouldn't go with paracetamol but they gave me codeine and it helped a little bit, and I still had protein in my urine. The doctor said she thinks preeclampsia is brewing, and that I'll be monitored some more.

Today I've had a headache all day long and I've taken two lots of paracetamol but it hasn't touched it. I've been drinking enough. I've also had pain in my ribs and my left shoulder is really aching. But I've also woken up with a sore throat so I'm not sure if I'm just coming down with something!

The nurse made a comment about how much I've been in (because of the reduced movements) and it's made me feel like I don't want to call again in case I'm just being an annoyance. Especially with everything going on I don't want to waste valuable NHS resources.

What would you do if you were me? Just leave it or call up? It's mainly the headache I'm worried about.

I’d give them a call if I were you. Don’t worry about the nurse making a comment about how often you’ve been in, better to be safe than sorry x

Please call.

Ignore the nurse.

I always tell women, I don't care if I see you every single day as long as I know that you and your baby are safe.

Please call your maternity unit. Don’t wait until the morning. You are not wasting resources. You are trying to get help to keep you and your baby safe. It is what we are there for.

I would phone them and not give a toss what anyone thinks. You're the mum and you're looking after yourself and your baby. There are times when anxiety and fear works for us, and even if there's nothing to worry about all it takes is someone to say that. Wishing you all the best M x

Just call. Ignore individual commments.
