Considering egg donation

I have just been looking online at donating some of my eggs obviously when all this virus stuff is said and done.

I would love to help someone achieve their dream of becoming a parent as I know myself first hand how heartbreaking it is to think you will never be a parent. Fortunately I now have my gorgeous 4 month old ♥️

I’ve read the FAQs and it didn’t touch upon it there but is there any risk of me not been able to have any more children through the procedure?

Any stories from mumsnet users on egg donation?

The procedure to donate eggs is the same as a woman going through IVF to have her own family, so the medical risks of complications are the same (very small but possible). You also mention you didn’t think you would be a parent - if this was due to your own fertility issues it would preclude you from donating, and I believe some (not all) places prefer if you have finished your own family prior to donating.

I will never say never but I am 28 and I feel it’s unlikely that I was meet another partner who would want more children before I wouldn’t want to have more if that makes sense. I know it’s possible and women have children later on in life but it’s just my personal choice and I’m okay with just having my son if it came down to it.

Yes I have PCOS.

Would be a shame if I wasn’t able to donate but I will look into it further and see if I could be a good candidate for donation

I’m 29 and wasn’t allowed to do this; as I couldn’t say that I’d definitely completed my family. They may insist on that. I think they’d also want your son to be a fair bit older.

It’s a lovely thing to do, though.

I donated my eggs in December, and I was assured that it wouldn't impact my ability to have children in the future. I also have a friend who had a baby, donated, had another baby, then donated again! We both used the same clinic, so I've never heard of them preferring you to have finished your family before donating. I definitely have plans to have more children in future Smile

Hope that helps.
