Hospital cancelling gestational diabetic appointments?

I am 33 weeks pregnant and have gestational diabetes. I am under Heartlands hospital in Birmingham.

I saw on the RCOG website women must attend all their ante natal appointments. However I have a scan booked tomorrow and have received 3 calls from the hospital today, within the space of 90 minutes, saying the following:

  1. You must attend with a record of your blood glucoses.

  2. Do you have symptoms of CV? If not you must attend and on your own.

  3. All appointments are cancelled.

I am confused. I phoned up the booking department and they said if you have a scan booked then do attend. So I do intend to go in.

A few days back they cancelled an appointment I would have had at 38 weeks with the diabetic clinic (where I thought my birthing options would be discussed). When I explained I was pregnant the lady said "sorry I've just been given a list of appointments to cancel".

I was wondering whether other pregnant women had the same experience? I am not too sure whether this is correct or whether there's been some miscommunication with the general diabetic outpatient appointments and pregnancy related.

Has anyone had similar??

Hi I was just diagnosed with GD (30w) and I'm in a different area so they probably do things a bit differently.

The nurse told me today that they're changing things around to try and reduce the number of appointments and limit the face-to-face appointments to a bare minimum. So I only have one where I have to come in now (I think around 34 weeks) and then the others are remote. They said at the moment the one to discuss birth choices with the OB is face to face but they might review that in the next few weeks.

So I wonder if they might be planning to re-book a lot of them as telephone appointments? Obviously though that wouldn't be the scan so I think I'd still go in for that.

Hi, I’m type 1 diabetic and my appointments have been moved to virtual ones. However, it is easier for me as they can see my readings online. I have a Libre which I use to scan myself and add notes if needed and just email my nurse. She looks at my readings and sends a response.

Could you take a picture of your sugar readings book and email them? I been self isolating as dh caught a fever last week. He is back at work while me and dc have another week to go.

Thank you Number. I am more than happy to send/scan my readings in. My fear was appointments being erroneously cancelled but it seems bar scans everything will now be remotely done , which is completely understandable.
