Hi
Did anyone get this text today
Dear Patient, We identified you as at risk of severe illness if you catch Corona virus as you have underlying health condition.NHS advice is to stay at home and avoid all face to face contact for 12 weeks except for essential for essential carer s and Health Workers. Letter will follow in few days.

I called a midwife to see if this is for all pregnant women or just for people like me as I’m consultant led due to having fibroids. She said it will go to all pregnant women but sounded unsure! Has anyone else received this?

Hope you are all self isolating and looking after yourselves

I'm 22 weeks pregnant, consultant led for hypothyroidism. I've not had a text or letter and wasn't expecting to. I guess I'll have to see in the next few days.

Whoareyoudududu · 23/03/2020 15:08

No, I’m 22 weeks pregnant and haven’t received one. I didn’t think pregnant women were included from what they said on last nights broadcast, I thought it was just people with health conditions and the elderly. AFAIK pregnant women just have to socially distance rather than completely isolating but I may be wrong.

Sunny866 · 23/03/2020 15:10

I thought the same. I read it’s only pregnant women who also have underlying conditions such as heart conditions etc. Not too sure why I have received it but didn’t expect to

The government announcement said there is going to be some way of people who receive the letters discussing their particular circumstances with a health professional. Perhaps there will fe a number in the letters? The way she said it, it was because the letters are going out based on the info they hold about you. Presumably this could be incorrect or out of date as health changes.

I would self isolate though until you have have had the opportunity to double check that it definitely applies to you. If you don't get that opportunity self isolate anyway.

View the announcement from yesterday on BBC iPlayer.

28 weeks pregnant and no text and don’t expect to. I thought It was only those with very severe health conditions only -so that’s really surprising that they have sent that to you as you are pregnant but presume judging by your message you don’t have any underlying health conditions. How odd. I guess time will tell.

MonaLisaDoesntSmile · 23/03/2020 17:43

Nothing here, except for cancelled appointments!

Sunny866 · 23/03/2020 17:45

I called my GP surgery as I was advised they were the ones that sent out the text. All the receptionist could say is “probably because you are pregnant” and nothing else. I don’t know if each individual surgery is deciding whether it’s all pregnant women they look after or if another is deciding it’s just high risk. The only thing I could thing of was my fibroids and I am also rhesus negative but I don’t think these two fall under the extreme category.

Did you try looking up the number? I saw earlier that people had received spam texts with a similar message Angry

kittykat7210 · 23/03/2020 18:44

31 weeks and not received a text, but GP signed me off until my maternity leave

amymel2016 · 23/03/2020 18:49

29 weeks, consultant led due to epilepsy and DVT history in family, I’ve not received any text or letter. I thought only pregnant women with severe heart problems were on the list?

Millar18 · 23/03/2020 20:19

I think your GP practice are being over cautious. What they are talking about is called shielding and applies to “ Women who are pregnant with significant heart disease, congenital or acquired.”

All other pregnant women are advised to observe strict social distancing:
“All pregnant women, regardless of gestation, should observe the social distancing guidance available on the Government website:

  1. For all vulnerable people including pregnant women 13
  2. For individuals and households of individuals with symptoms of new continuous cough or fever 14 You should pay particular attention to avoiding contact with people who are known to have COVID-19 or those who exhibit possible symptoms. Women above 28 weeks’ gestation should be particularly attentive to social distancing and minimising contact with others.”

Hope this helps to clarify but if you are worried I would suggest contacting you MW who can discuss with an obstetrician.

Sunny866 · 23/03/2020 20:42

Yes the number is just “Nhs no reply”. The usual number I get my appointment etc texts from.
