Breathlessness in third trimester

Hi ladies

I’ve just entered my third trimester and have started to feel a bit out of breathe when I walk far/fast or go up the stairs. I am usually quite fit and never had asthma or any issues catching my breathe.
I am pretty sure it’s just a normal pregnancy symptom but as this is my first I’m not sure. How bad can this get? If I am feeling it at 28 weeks already I assume it gets worse as the weeks go on and my baby squashes my lungs even more?

I know that this isnt related at all to COVID as I don’t feel unwell at all, but if I were to catch it I assume compromised air flow and breathing wouldn’t be great in conjunction with a respiratory disease? Wondering if that’s why the RCOG guidelines were updated to be mote precautionary for women in the 3rd trimester?

Any thoughts appreciated. Thank you

Hi, it's very common to get out of breath as the baby is squishing everything which puts pressure on your lungs.
If you are 28 weeks it could get a little worse but it actually gets better toward the end as the baby drops down and so your lungs get a bit more space - you might then start to get pressure/pain lower down instead. The last trimester isn't going to be comfortable!
If your breathing gets too bad though speak to your midwife.

I'm getting this (30 weeks' third pregnancy) and it was the same with both of my previous pregnancies too. Would say it's normal.
