COVID-19 & working in a nursery

Hi,
Another Coronavirus post sorry!
So I work in a nursery, 20 weeks pregnant. we are staying open to care for the key person categories, nhs staff etc. I wondered how this affects my rights as a pregnant employee and if anyone would be able to tell me whether I should be there? My manager is clueless and I feel as if I am an after thought, I understand these are uncertain times.
I have no symptoms so can work, but should they be making adjustments for me to not be around the children & parents? I’ve read guidance on maternity action however this doesn’t specify whether a nursery is a high or low risk environment for me to be in. Just like everyone I’m totally confused and I don’t know who the best person to contact is.

Any advice appreciated! I hope everyone is well and staying safe ❤️

Hi I’m 22 weeks and my nursery have been very supportive - although they are a big company rather than small and independent. My manager has said she doesn’t want me at nursery as she doesn’t want to risk anything, with the government advice being pregnant women to social distance for 12 weeks, being in such close proximity to staff, parents and children isn’t ideal. The regional manager agreed X

@EssElsiee thankyou for the reply!
How have they gone about paying you? Are you having to take statutory sick pay or are you suspended on full pay? From what I’ve read it’s basic maternity rights at work for the employer to remove the risks or suspend on full pay if they cannot. X

Suspended on full pay - for now anyway. If we are to social distance for 12 weeks, that takes me to 34 weeks! I have 2 weeks annual leave, 36 weeks, then I can’t imagine I’ll go back with only 4 weeks left til the due date. I’ll take maternity from then. So looks like I won’t be back until next year. It’s all so weird!! X

@EssElsiee find me an employer like yours 🙏🏻😂
Well I’m glad someone is being treated right, and thankyou for some insight. I couldn’t imagine being off work for that long it would drive me round the bend! Hoping they can find me alternative work in the office. All the best with your pregnancy too! Trying to enjoy it is so hard with all this going off x

Hi -I work in a school so it’s a bit different but I really don’t think you should be working with the children. Good luck getting it sorted.

I work for the NHS and the most recent guidance is that we should be at work during first and second trimester. It's a very anxiety provoking time 🙈
