Flu Jab

I'm 9 weeks and had my first appointment with the midwife this week - she recommended the flu jab but said its nearing the end of the season so need to get it before the end of March.

I'm just a bit worried about even going to the GP surgery during this CV period, and also feel it might be too early to get the jab?

Any thoughts?

Definitely worth getting it done. Don't be nervous, I went to the GP the other day to have my whooping cough vaccine, they had special measures in place. There was a senior nurse on the door stopping people just walking in, they ask you to antibac your hands and then you are straight though to see the nurse/doctor. I was in and out in minutes, there weren't even any reception staff.

I had my flu jab when I was around 5 weeks pregnant, so it's not too early Smile

If you'd be more comfortable going to Boots, you should still be able to get it there, I'd have thought?

I had mine only yesterday(I'm 18 weeks) and like you was really unsure whether to have it done due to first of all completely forgetting but also due to the current situation and the flu season being nearly over but after asking advice and opinions from the other lovely ladies on here I decided to do it. I went for near enough the time of my appointment so I didn't have to wait by the time I'd used the hand gel I was called in she asked me if I had any allergies or if I was allergic to eggs (apparently there's something in the injection so need to make you aware) then she just did it, was in and out in a flash so I would say definitely get it done and try not to worry as at the end of the day you are having it to protect you and your baby.

Go to Boots, they do it for free and you can book online. I did mine at 7 weeks last time, was told it did not matter.

You can get it done in your pharmacy for free, I had mine done at literally 4 weeks pregnant because I was feeling so unwell with diarrhoea I went in and had a consultant with the pharmacist, he’s the loveliest and gave it to me there and then. I would go sooner rather than later because the stocks of the jab might be quite low.
