I can't buy a thermometer for my baby

I'm due to have my first baby soon and need to buy a thermometer to have at home just in case. Everywhere seems to be sold out in the madness and I'm now in tears because I can't get one anywhere. What am I going to do if my baby falls ill and I need to take her temperature? I was looking at the Braun ones initially as I read that they're good, but would settle for anything that works at this point.

Why has there been a run on baby thermometers - surely people don't need any more of them than usual?!

I managed to order a Tommee Tippee thermometer on Amazon Prime thanks to the lovely PP who PM'd. It's suitable from 1 month onwards I think (I'm not sure why?) but reassuring to know that I've at least got something.

DH had already tried the local chemist but they didn't have any.

Please try not to worry too much ( easier said than done) my ds was born at 27 weeks and came home 3 months old weighing just 5lbs.

I never had a thermometer just felt the back of his neck. This was the first thing the nurses used to do. They obviously took his temp as well.

He's 13 now and I still don't own a thermometer.

They aren't just for babies. Ours diagnosed my dangerously high temperature when I had a postpartum infection. Glad that you are sorted, OP.

The universal sign of coronavirus is a high temp. In 98% of people. So people are buying them.
