Hello, I hope I'm in the right place, I'm sorry if not.

I'm just too excited. Myself (24) and DP (24) have decided we're gonna try for a baby in the by the end of summer.

We're waiting to see if he gets this new job first before we take any big steps so unfortunately I'm still on nexplanon, however in my eyes it's a step closer than we have been. We've talking about it for ages but it seems so real now we have a plan.

We're both excited but me more so as it'll be my first. DP has a DD (soon to be 6)

If you have any advice about TTC or the waiting process or anything tbh, I'd be so happy to hear what you guys have to say.

Thanks in advance 😊

Honestly I would wait for a bit while all this coronavirus stuff is going on. It’s very stressful and confusing being a pregnant woman with this virus about and the complications it brings to appointments and getting about in general.

Don’t expect to conceive on the first try. Amazing if you do but it can take six months to a year. Took me a year to conceive my first. Relax and try not to think about it too much as that’s when it seems to happen most. Good luck!!

If you can get a grips of your natural period and start to track it that will help massively. I had been on Marvelon for about 10 years and came off it last August with the intentions to start trying in December. This gave me a few months to let my period regulate and work out when my fertile window etc is. It was fairly regular when I was on the pill and continued to be regular off it so im definitely lucky that way!
Start taking vitamins too, doesn't have to be the conception even Well woman or another brand can help, even just to get the folic acid in you incase it happens quickly!
Lastly, try try not start taking tests until you actually miss your period. I know it'sa crazy hard time if you think you're pregnant but it's a waste of money and can be heartbreaking testing before a missed period, especially if it does take a few months.
Good luck 😊

How exciting!

My advice:
Start taking folic acid the moment you start TTC
Dont bother with ovulation kits temperature taking etc etc to begin with, there really is no need and it will just get you obsessing. Try and keep calm about it.

Be prepared for it to take however long it takes. I was so prepared for the long haul after reading threads on here but both my pregnancies were conceived first go - so u never know! Don't assume anything.

ChrisPrattsFace · 17/03/2020 13:43

Monitor your cycle for a couple of months.
Keep it fun for the first six months.
Be a bit stricter in timings around ovulation for the second six months.
Get ridiculously strict for the following year.
Cry every month because you’re still not pregnant.
(Seriously though, expect/be understanding of disappointment at every stage. Even those in perfect health with ‘perfect’ fertility can take years to get pregnant!)

NeverGotMyPuppy · 17/03/2020 14:11

@ChrisPrattsFace that's a little misleading and not particularly kind to the OP. At her age - assuming both her and her partner are healthy - I think her chances of conceiving within a year is about 92%. To talk to her about crying every month after years of trying seems a little unnecessary at this stage.

Chanel05 · 17/03/2020 14:41

Enjoy the ttc and don't take it too seriously to begin with. It's perfectly normal to take a year to conceive if you're in a fertile couple.

Lunafloves · 17/03/2020 19:15

Totally agree with @Catlover10. I would also advise holding off until the world calms down a little. I'm 16 weeks and it's a super stressful time. While I am still excited, I wish we had conceived a year or two in the future!

FeelingBeautiful · 17/03/2020 20:03

so exciting! folic acid etc and stay happy but maybe wait for the worst of the coronavirus to pass through. as you can see on this board it is causing a lot of panic esp to ladies in their first trimester
but stay excited and keep planning because it will happen, where there's a will there's a way Smile

BronzeSilverGold13 · 17/03/2020 23:04

Hi ladies, thank you for all your advice, quick question... obviously we're not trying yet but would it be worth switching from nexplanon to the pill/patch now to regulate periods as I currently don't have a period on the implant?

Sorry for the questions I'm just really new to this and can't seem to find the info I want.
