Mr Whitty says that the social distancing measures are particularly aimed at people above 70, adults with chronic illness such as heart disease, and pregnant women.

So does that mean we like over 70 will be asked to isolate??

Yes I'm only 5 weeks and work asked for anyone that's pregnant but not said yet to come forwards sonintomd them today as we're classsed as high risk so might have to isolate for 12 weeks, I'd tell them if I were you xx

@sarahc336 yes I think I’m going to have to tell them tomorrow, I can’t expect to be given special treatment re working from home etc if they don’t know.

Avearage · 16/03/2020 21:01

I shall update with my works view xx

Yes @notinthestarsigns I think you should tell them so they can be as supportive as possible. It's not nice telling people early but I guess this is a once in a lifetime kinda situation to be in isn't it xx

@sarahc336 I have just sent an email to my manager and his manager now. It felt a bit scary but I am hoping that by getting it out the way now I will have a better nights sleep! Fingers crossed they are supportive and allow me to work at home for the foreseeable. Do you do a job that means you can work at home? It is just frustrating because I really wanted to carry on as normal as much as I could at work through pregnancy but we can’t take any risks can we

flameprincess · 16/03/2020 22:19

I can't work from home in my job - I don't know how my employer will respond to this info but there are a couple of us pregnant in the office. My manager isn't in until Thursday so hoping she has seen the news and is anticipating my questions!

Avearage · 16/03/2020 22:19

I have just come to work, I work in care and the guidance I have in front they have written is no signs pregnant women need to be treated differently...... So at a guess unless I refuse then I'm working as normal

They will surely have to change that guidance after today’s news?

bluebell94 · 16/03/2020 22:40

I'm a nurse and cannot WFH, I've spoke to my occupational health department and what was said today has not yet been officially updated on PHE guidance. I'd keep a close eye on it over the next few days... x

I would hope they do however they are the come to work even if your at deaths door place so I think they will wait it out as long as they possibly can x

My manager and his manager have both emailed to say I will have to work at home for the foreseeable. I know that I am very lucky as not everyone is able to work at home but I am worried about how I am going to cope with the lack of social contact, I think it could be a pretty miserable and lonely few months hardly leaving the house! X

HR sent me home this morning. I can't do my job from home but they said to stay at home until they know what's happening and they will be in touch.
