I am planning on breastfeeding but have bought 2 small Nuk bottles. Chosen because they are glass rather than plastic which I wanted, and online reviews seem to suggest latex teats often taken better by breastfed babies over silicone. They were only £3.50 on amazon when i bought them

I’ve gone for Mam anti-colic this time. They self sterilise in the microwave which I think will be handy as we often travel to visit in-laws and a steriliser is one less thing to transport!

Used Dr Browns last time which were fab but a real faff to clean as they had so many parts!

I combi fed breast and expressed and used the MAM bottles.

Honestly, I wouldn’t buy many until you have had your baby.

I ended up not being able to breastfeed and my DS refused every make of bottle (Tommee, advent, MAM, Nuk etc) and would only accept Dr Browns so i wasted so much money buying them.

However, I would on that note highly recommend dr browns. Slightly more expensive but I thought they were great

We used Dr Brown anti colic through that stage and then the bog standard tommee tippee bottles. We did combi feeding.

With the situation as it is ATM breast feeding is immeasurably the best option. What if formula is sold out?

Caspianberg · 16/03/2020 14:50

@Esspee - I aim to breastfeed. In current climate it seems best as you say. However I want to aim to have Dh give a small bottle once per day after a few weeks to allow me a bit of flexibility to go out for various reasons whether than is expressed or formula milk. We will have to see when the time comes.

I use MAM for my breast fed baby. She takes it absolutely no problem and gives her no wind. Self sterilising too. I'm not one for banging on about breastfeeding but at present I feel more lucky than ever that I am due to the lack of availability of formula.

My midwife recommended Asda’s Little Angels brand. I have a Medela breast pump too and like the bottles that go with that, apparently it creates a vacuum so baby has to work harder for the milk, like breastfeeding, and it avoids nipple confusion.

When mothercare was closing down I also picked up some tommy tippee anti-colic bottles. The lids are a bit fiddly but they’re easy to clean.
