Hello

Just wondering your recommendations for baby wipes? I’m due my first baby in May and would like to get stocked up!

I would like to use water based wipes whilst baby is newborn and skin may be sensitive.

I will also use cotton wool and water if needed.

It looks like there are quite a few water based wipes and was wondering if some are better than others?

I know aldi baby wipes (sensitive , not water based) have been all the rage. This is what I will probably move onto using after I know baby’s skin is okay.

I’ve seen water wipes, aqua wipes, and some supermarkets doing their own version?

Which are the best in your opinion?!

Thanks in advance :-)

I only use water wipes (love them!), don't know about own brands but they're really good. TBH though I only use wipes for hands or if I'm stuck changing a nappy while out. Otherwise bums get cleaned with cream and cotton wool, it's better for the skin!

Water Wipes as in the brand, that is. And congrats on your baby!

At home I only used water and cotton wool. Out and about I used water wipes.
Little one never had nappy rash.

We used water wipes for DS1. Aldi have started doing some to that are quite nice. For DD2 we are going to use Cheeki wipes (reusable wipes) alongside the Wet wipes. I just couldn't get on with cotton wool and in the current climate know that I won't have to worry about low stock.

How about reusable wipes?
Even if it's just for wee (I appreciate some people struggle with poopy wipes).

Aldi do biodegradable water wipes, they are great. I'd also consider using a flannel and warm water for wet nappy changes, though. Much better for their skin.

I use Aveeno. But with my first I used washable wipes and plain water.

Look at cheeky wipes.
They're reusable wipes. SO SO SO easy to use.
No landfil, pure water and a drop of essential oil which you add yourself.

I have just ordered a big box of Amazon's own brand wipes called Mama Bear.
They are inexpensive, hypoallergenic and biodegradable, and have over 7k five-star reviews so I thought I'd give them a try!

Willow4987 · 15/03/2020 08:07

We used cotton wool and water at home while they are small and then aldi sensitive wipea

ps1991 · 15/03/2020 08:07

Use cotton wool pads and water for the first few weeks then we moved onto baby wipes. We never really stuck with a brand, but more often than not use Aldi ones because you can buy a big box fairly cheap.

We also have a set of cheeky wipes, they’re reusable ones and they’re great!

ThePolishWombat · 15/03/2020 08:10

I would also recommend reusable wipes!!
I’ve used them from when DC3 was born. Dad bought us some huggies wipes as they were on offer so I thought I’d use them rather than them go to waste and the baby got nappy rash for the first time in her life! Went straight back to my cloth wipes and no rash!!

WorriedMummyNow · 15/03/2020 09:04

I quite like water wipes in the early days and Huggies Pure afterwards.

I have dry skin and find that a lot of the other wipes (inc the Aldi ones) stick to my skin like Velcro and give me goosebumps! It's a bit like touching one of those microfiber cloths. If you're ok with those then the texture probably won't bother you. Grin

I use reusable wipes. People recommend cheeky wipes but they’re fairly expensive. I just use cheap fleece ones from eBay, they’re hugely effective. Cotton wool and water is laughable tbh, meconium is like marmite so using little cotton wool balls just isn’t efficient.

RhymingRabbit3 · 22/03/2020 17:52

Reusable wipes are fantastic. So much cheaper in the long run, softer, more effective and more environmentally friendly.
