Long story short. I have been trying for a baby since febuary 2017 and I have had no luck but 1 and that was last year in aurgust but I unfortunately miscarried in early october, I have been non stop trying since and am now going the doctors on monday to be possibly diagnosed pcos. I am even looking into a clearblue fertility monitor or a persona just use it the other away around.
Do these monitors work and is it worth the buy?
Am I doing things wrong?
What can I do?
I really need some advice on this as I am so desperate amd don't know what to do anymoreConfused

Hi OP,

Sorry to hear of your frustrations!

Me and my husband were trying for 7 months doing standard period tracking and ovulation sticks. I fell pregnant but sadly had a MC. Whilst I was recovering my friend told me about the Natural Cycles app which she was using along with the thermometer for contraception - it also doubles as a ovulation fertility tracker!

So after I had my first natural period post MC I used this app and the thermometer (you also use ovulation sticks) and I was pregnant within the month!

I’m not saying it’s 100% but If you aren’t super fertile and need to do it BANG ON ovulation like me, this app will help!

x

Thank you for responding! I have the app flow and tried tracking that way and only managed to get that once chance and that was through body fluids.. the change. The thermometer I don't think I have heard of that but thank you I will look into that!

Just be careful shelling out all the money for a clearblue monitor, the ovualtion tests they do, say they aren't suitable for PCOS users. I did use them, and have definate PCOS, however I was also doing follicular scanning after a while, it's common to get multiple "positives' each cycle with PCOS and sometimes not even ovulate.

So I have the flow and was using that to log my periods but along side that I had the Natural Cycles app! It’s very straight forward! You take your temp with the thermometer provided and you enter your temp and details at the same time like in the photo attached.

Then it produces a graph, also attached which shows your fertile window! There is a lot of science involved which I couldn’t possibly explain but it tells you you’re go days! The hearts indicated the days me and my husband had sex.

It’s all about 40 quid a year a think xx

Thats what I was thinking with having pcos possibly chance are high as my mum has it and she said she used a persona for her 4th child. I am conflicted with what to do but thank you

Another vote for natural cycles here. I have PCOS and ovulation tests just didn't work (I conceived in a month with no clear blue smiley face but I got a temperature rise with Natural Cycles). I also recommend metformin from your GP if you are diagnosed

fibeee · 13/03/2020 18:28

Saw one of the posts above and just wanted to add a disclaimer about using Natural Cycles as contraception. I fell pregnant within the 1st month of use following all the instructions closely.

Not a bad thing if you want to get pregnant of course! But I would definitely not recommend it as a contraceptive!

MrsRose2018 · 13/03/2020 18:32

It was honestly a game changer for me!

NGL it was a bit of a ball ache having to set my alarm for 5am every day to take my temp - I did this because the time I wake up varies depending on Where I am for work each day and to have to take your temp the second you wake up - but I don’t think it a coincidence I got pregnant on the first month using it x

MrsRose2018 · 13/03/2020 18:37

@fibeee oh you’re absolutely correct! I wouldn’t use it as a contraceptive but my friend did (doesn’t anymore because she sleeps so unreliable and drinks alcohol too frequently 😂).

It’s deffo much better as a fertility predictor rather than a contraceptive from what I’ve read

I used Flo and got pregnant v quickly but it turned out at my first scan that my dates were out by a week - the app wasn’t getting my ovulation dates right even with cm data and it was just by chance we dtd on the right day! I wouldn’t rely just on the app, temping would be more accurate.

Fishbaby · 14/03/2020 04:28

I used this internal temp tracking thing. Actually i don't think it helped in any other way then to relax me. I can't remember what it's called now..Ovia but might be getting it mixed up with some other app!

Anyway it's meant to help people who have pcos or irregular periods.

Also i found cb ovulation sticks USELESS and the digital version a complete load of crap. I went from not fertile to super fertile to a little bit fertile and back to really fertile.

I used these cheap one step stupid i find on Amazon and they were MUCH more accurate. You'd think the digital one would make it easier, but it doesn't.

With the strips i noticed they'd go from nothing, to faint to dark to faint and then back to nothing again. It's only when they are dark test you are ovulating but useful to see the line growing darker because then you know your body is starting the process.

However if you have pcos this might be different for you. I think it's good to use as many tracking methods as possible and take into consideration you may need further help getting pregnant than most people.
