Congratulations on your bub! That’s a great looking scan!

I am 15 stone with a BMI of 37 (I’m also a short ass) and I am currently 22 weeks. I haven’t had a single problem with any of my scans!

I am getting kinda pissed with the whole stigma attached to being a chubby mamma! Like I accept there are studies which show there are SOME increases risks to being pregnant with an enhanced BMI but it does make a lot of women worry, stressed and feel bad!

I was speaking to my midwife and and said that I was surprised the doctors weren’t as interested In my BMI as I thought they would be and she said that they see a lot of overweight women every day and it’s all relative!

Och I went to a “well-being” app by my midwife and it was ridiculous! They tell you about portion sizes and what a calorie is and what the different food groups are! I was just like “I’m not fat because I thought chocolate cake and burgers were a healthy breakfast option” 🙄

At my 20 week scan I managed to convince the hospital to let me remain under midwife led care rather than the consultant as I refuse to believe I need to take the resources away from a consultant cos I’m a bit fat! My baby is perfect and I’m otherwise TOTALLY healthy.

Also I got a couple of private “reassurance scans” and their requirement is a bit higher tech/clearer than the NHS ones x

I'm the same , I'm about 15 stone and 5ft, so my BMI is something stupid like 41, I've been told time and time again about my weight, I actually lost four stone before I got pregnant and they don't want me to loose anymore now, my weight is steady and has been since my 8 week app, my scan photos are always quite good, like @mrsrose2018, I've had private scans and their photos are great. I find a good full bladder and lots of water helps!

I have a BMI of 36, and was shocked at how clear the ultrasounds were for both 12 & 20 weeks. The pictures I don't think turned out as great as some of my slimmer friends but the image on the screen was clear.

I had to attend a consultant appointment at 16 weeks, where they tested my urine and blood pressure and listened to baby's heartbeat (literally all that happened at my 16 week midwife appointment). When I asked about whether I should be paying attention to how much weight I gain over the pregnancy, the consultant told me not to worry, it's all down to whether baby is healthy. I'll have another appointment at 32 weeks with the consultant.

I've also got at least one additional scan at what will be 28 weeks just to check growth rates I believe.

This was something that really played on my mind as I became pregnant but it honestly hasn't been bad at all.

I'm overweight and wasn't expecting much from my scans but was surprised how good they were. The 20 week one was amazing and I could see him/her wriggling around. That's the first time it felt real to me.

The only downside I've found about being bigger is that they have to push the camera down quite hard at times. I've had to have many scans so getting used to it now

Hope you enjoy the other scans Smile
