Hi I have been suffering from heartburn through all my pregnancy almost but the last 2-3 weeks is getting really worse. I have every day, I went in bed and wake up with heartburn. Is there anything that can my gp prescribe me?

Yes. Go and have a talk with your gp as there are some safe medication they can give you.

GO for sure.

I heard a few people swear green apples helped .... just putting it out there 😆 I've never suffered so can't confirm or otherwise lol

omeprazole from the GP completely sorted mine

lady321 · 12/03/2020 22:47

Thanks. I will go tomorrow. I didn't know if there is anything safe to prescribe, my midwife is not very helpful, I had appointment with her on Tuesday and mentioned all these and she said it's normal and gave some advice about food which I already tried. Also I tried Gaviscon which is not helpful. I stayed awake yesterday until 2 am suffering and now i know it will be long night as well, not able to sleep.

Try sleeping propped up on pillows until you get to the GP...

Omeprazole is safe in pregnancy & real godsend! I’ve been on it since the first trimester, barely had any heartburn. It’s only when I accidentally miss a dose that I realise how awful it’d be without it!

I had ranitidine it was amazing but I think it's been recalled, omeprazole will work

Casmama · 12/03/2020 23:29

Omeprazole is a game changer. I was prescribed some in my second pregnancy and when i said to my GP that i would try not to take it she said that was daft as it is perfectly safe and would i rather damage my oesophagus than take a medication - i got the point.
Do it OP - you wont regret it

Have you tried milk? I found it helped a bit, so might be worth a try. Sleeping propped up, and not eating close to bedtime, helped as well. Have you tried keeping a food diary as it might be a certain food type triggering it? I know it's grim and can get you down sometimes, but it will all be worth it.

bengalcat · 12/03/2020 23:38

Yes Omeprazole

Conny848 · 12/03/2020 23:39

Sorry, I meant to say def go to your GP. The things I mentioned are only until you can get to your GP.
