Any pregnant teachers out there?

I’m just wondering if there any any pregnancy teachers about and how you’re coping/coped?
I’m 9weeks and primary school, barely anyone knows - struggling with feeling exhausted and back ache at the moment.
Obviously I know all jobs can be tiring and stressful, just wondering if there were any words of advice or tips from teachers in particular.

Hey
I'm also a primary teacher and now 13 weeks. Getting a bit more energy now! First trimester was TOUGH. I was getting in at 8 and leaving at 3.45 every day.
I told my head and he was great. Told me not to worry about marking, just to try and get English and maths done. Also told my year group partner and she's been fab. Instead of us planning 50/50 its been more like 90/10 recently! She also offered to do my playground duties which sounds small but actually really helped.
I understand why you might want to keep it quiet but is there anyone you could ask for help?
Also, don't worry about taking a few days off of you need it.

Hi, I'm pregnant too (18 weeks) and a primary teacher. I felt so rough for the first 15 weeks which was hard in school but luckily the xmas hols fell at my worst point. I'm now finding it hard in other ways in that I'm putting the same high pressure/expectations on myself as if I was not pregnant and find my self rushing around etc too much so by the evenings I'm knackered. People know at my school now but I feel like they are expecting me to go on as normal too. It's probably my fault a bit for accepting it too. I went home at 3.45 yesterday and it was so nice but then had alot to catch up on today. It's also hard being responsible for all those children wen you feel hormonal and emotional yourself! Sorry for the slight rant haha xx

Thank you both for replying @Geordiebabe85 @Nellie3 I’ve had a miscarriage before and I really want to try and get to my scan - at the start of the holidays before I tell people generally. It’s the tiredness that is getting me, at lunchtime it’s like I could just fall asleep at my desk. This afternoon I had to teach from sitting down which I never ever do and I think my TA thought it was a bit strange but my back was just aching so much. Hoping it gets easier and maybe I should start leaving a little earlier.

@Nellie3 I'm also 18 and a bit weeks and thankfully Christmas holidays fell at the time where getting out of bed without puking and making it downstairs was a successful day!

I'm an assistant head in a prep school with a teaching timetable too and I'm struggling massively with exhaustion.. I'm trying to get away by 4:00 two days a week but the others are 6:00pm finishes with meetings etc. I totally feel for all you teachers out there, it's a tough and tiring job without growing a tiny human too.

I also find myself on the playground really anxious about the little ones bumping into me when they're dashing around playing tig! Anyone else?

I'm a secondary school teacher, 31 weeks pregnant now.
I only work 0.4 after having my daughter in 2017, so it's not too bad, I can struggle through 2 days. School have taken my duties and tutor group off me now as well, so that has really helped.
I remember when I was pregnant with my daughter, it was so hard. I was full time then, just had a mmc, so anxious and exhausted.
It's such a tough job - make sure you have regular breaks if you can and ask for help if you need it.

Hi all

Secondary teacher teaching product design. Trying to go easy while doing practical work. Only 12 weeks, trying to sit in my chair as much as I can as I get soo tired

ChickenNugget86 · 13/03/2020 00:10

I'm a TA in reception class and I'm 32 weeks pregnant. I'm not going to lie but it's been tough going. I'm so tired after work and have to nap when I get in.
As I'm high risk I'm having lots of appointments so not done a full week for a while.
I'm finishing at Easter half term so not long to go but I've found it tough

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 13/03/2020 06:43

I’m 13 weeks tomorrow and a primary school teacher. I’m exhausted all the time! I have the year group who are infamous and not many people know I’m pregnant yet. I used to be an ‘up and out’ kind of person but I’m struggling to get out of bed now.

I'm a teacher and when I had my first child back in 2012 I had the MOST challenging class. I decided at 7 weeks pregnant I needed to tell my fellow year group teachers and head because I was finding the stress of my class plus 1st trimester symptoms so difficult. I'm glad I did as I ended up with the most severe migraine so when the paramedics arrived they were were able to tell them about my pregnancy. I'm now pregnant again and because of this horrendous experience first time around I again told my head very early on. I just asked the selected people to keep it quiet which they did. I felt sooooo much better (and safer) for telling people so early, and if I miscarried I knew they'd understand that too.

Frankincense88 · 13/03/2020 15:47

7 weeks here, secondary English. 👋🏼 Doing lots of sitting in my chair and silent revision. Not really got any symptoms other than tiredness but I'm always tired from work so it's not that different to how I usually feel 😂

squashie34 · 14/03/2020 23:01

Just wondering how everyone is feeling being in schools with the coronavirus and it looking like schools won't be closing even if everywhere is on lockdown?!

Dee925 · 15/03/2020 07:36

I am a cover teacher at a secondary school so you can imagine that my classes are very challenging. I also have 8 weeks left before my dissertation is due for my undergrad so the word stress is an understatement. I had to take naps in my office the past week as I was just so tired.

Helbelle17 · 15/03/2020 09:14

I'm really nervous @squashie34 and feel quite vulnerable. I'm generally really resilient and just get on with things, but I'm 44 and this is our miracle baby. I only have 3 weeks left, so no idea what to do.

ChickenNugget86 · 15/03/2020 14:18

@helbelle17 - I feel the same as you. I finish work on April 3rd for the easter half term. I am not full time at the moment due to all the appointments I'm attending. None of us know what to do. Not many children attended last week. I was told if our school closes we will have to go in still to deep clean.
It's horrible seeing all the children getting anxious about it at such a young age.
Just find my self signing happy birthday 2 times on a regular basis when they wash hands!
