Im nearly 8 weeks pregnant with my second, and in the last 2 days, I seem to have had morning sickness constantly. I havnt actually been sick yet, which is annoying, as Im sure id feel better if i was. its constant and making me feel SO lowsy and horrible. I only had monong sickness in mornongs with my first, which wasnt a problem, but this is really starting to bother me, is it normal to feel sick all day? It only goes away for about 30 minutes when iv had food, but always comes back, so bad that i have to keep running to the toilet, but still havnt been sick! It doesnt look like this pregnancy will be as easy as my first. Is this normal? is anybody else like this?

I was like this with DD but not so much with DS

MegBusset · 07/09/2007 20:05

i was like this too. All-day nausea from 6/7 weeks, though I never actually threw up. Was horrible but did go at about 12 weeks. I found constantly snacking helped, if I ever let myself get properly hungry it just felt hideous. I kept a big bag of banana chips on my desk and also went through a liquorice allsorts phase! Plus about 10 slices of toast & Marmite a day.

mumzyof2 - sorry to say I've felt as you describe from 6wks pg, and have reached 17wks now with no sign of it going

I was like it all the way through my last pregnancy. I hope it doesn't last very long for you.

pobletsmum · 07/09/2007 20:10

Drs won't prescribe anything - believe me I've tried!

I read in a novel once (can't remember which) that it was named morning sickness by men

because they went out to work and didn't see the rest of the day

pruners - didn't realise you could get meds. I thought it was only for if you had HG and were throwing up constantly. Maybe I shoud go back to my GP again...

mumzyof2 · 07/09/2007 20:17

Oh thats hilarious, and probably true! When i was pregnant with my first, i thought i was going mad when i felt ill in afternoons, after it being referred to by everyone as MORNING sickness, but its not true. I never felt this bad though.

Hate to say it but it certainly was normal for me to puke all day till about 14 weeks, then just in the mornings for the remaining term! Both times! And with ds1 I was two weeks overdue so two weeks more puking .
I would not have taken any medication though.
Can't stand being in the same town as anything ginger these days though

SoMuchToBits · 07/09/2007 20:28

Sorry to say this, but I felt sick all day every day from about 6 weeks until ds was born. It wasn't quite so bad after the first 14 weeks or so, but still bad enough that I din't enjoy life at all.

thebecster · 07/09/2007 20:34

I had HG with my ds - I threw up constantly every day for the full 9 months, All day, through the night and even threw up in my sleep twice. It was hell - I didn't feel any relief from the nausea when I threw up, just carried on retching and retching... I didn't take meds, because although they are generally safe, my pg was so precious (was told by drs that I'd never be able to have children) that I was hyperneurotic about not taking anything.

I don't think Dr will prescribe you meds if you're not actually vomiting. I was offered them the second time that I had to be put on a drip for dehydration, and every time thereafter.

Anyway, sorry got sidetracked in remembering the horror of it all! I meant to tell you the things that helped me

Vitamin B6
peppermints
salted crisps
toast and marmite in bed before you get up in the morning
a kind DH to bring you iced water

Hope that one of these helps you!

thebecster · 07/09/2007 20:35

Oh, and to reassure you DS was born 3 days late, 7lbs 6 oz, perfectly healthy!

mumzyof2 · 07/09/2007 21:26

Great, thanks, whats the B6 for? Are we meant to take it? Because I havnt been, unless its in Pregnacare Plus.

I had some nausea while pg with DD, started the day my AF was due. Same with DS, lasted till around 16 weeks. I never threw up, just felt yuk the whole time.

My Dr did prescribe something, sorry can't remember the name, but tbh they did not really work so I stopped taking them.

What helped? Lots of little meals, low fat meals. My Dr recommended ginger tea, but I hated the taste of it. I drank loads of Roses Lime cordial for some reason. And started eating gerkhins (much to the amusement of DH as I had always hated them!)

Hope you find something that helps.

coleyboy · 07/09/2007 22:36

Defo normal.

Mine started at 7 weeks and finally went at 14 weeks. I had it all day and even woke up in the middle of the night to throw up - grim.

The only thing I found that helped was snacking on plain biscuits and peppermint tea.

Have come over in a sweat just remembering it! I really hope you feel better soon xx
