London this weekend?

Hi all, I’m currently 6 weeks pregnant and supposed to be going to London for the weekend. Am a little concerned about Coronavirus and the fact that I am massively increasing my risk of exposure on public transport and in hotels etc, compared to if I stay at home. Would you go??

I'm there tomorrow for work. It'll be fine. You'll be fine at the weekend too. Wash your hands regularly Smile

Wash your hands a lot! try to avoid touching anything on public transport. My balance is off so I held on to DH instead of the handles/escalators. If you have had gel (can't get it anywhere these days!) use after you get off the tube.

I've been out a couple of times the last week and I think most people have been hyper aware and sensitive to the the current situation so I haven't seen many people who had any symptoms out and about. I think most people have the sense to stay home if they are ill. That's my personal experience anyway maybe I have just been lucky!

Oh dear, I'm also 6 weeks pregnant but live in London & use public transport everyday.

lettersbyowl · 11/03/2020 22:25

Should have noted I'm 29 weeks pregnant too Smile Like @TinnedPearsForPudding makes the point - plenty of people live and work in London and are going about their daily lives. You can too.

The population of London is nearly 9 million and thus far there have been a grand total of 104 identified cases there. I understand people are worried but looking at the situation right now I think it's a bit of a stretch to see that as massively increasing your risk of exposure.

It has been stressed that pregnancy does not make you more susceptible, no transmission to baby and no adverse affects.
Lots of pregnant women living and travelling around London today.
Go as planned and follow guidance on hand washing etc like everyone else

Thanks all for your comments. I live in a very rural area and would be likely to come in to contact with a grand total of about 3 people over the course of a normal weekend, so relatively, for me, a trip to London, or indeed any other city/town would increase risk of exposure to anything, not just Corona by a fair bit. Of course I understand the risk is probably (hopefully!) still incredibly small and if I wasn’t pregnant I wouldn’t even be questioning going one bit.

This is a much wanted pregnancy after a mc at 11 weeks last year and I would just hate to do anything that could lead to me blaming myself if all goes wrong once again, so just feeling a bit anxious.

Think we will go and hope for the best.

I'm travelling to London for the weekend from Cumbria. I've decided to take sensible precautions, but have warned my mun who has COPD and a recent heart attack that I won't be visiting her when I get back, just in case.

I'm travelling to London this week as well for the Harmony test. I did debate for a long time but i think i will be fine. Hubby will be driving me there to avoid public transport as much as possible. I am 10w.

As an update we decided not to travel over the weekend, and given the advice today re travel, theatres and pregnant women I feel like we made the right decision. Sad to have missed the show we were due to see and gutted that if it had been booked for next weekend we would have in all likelihood also been able to get a refund too, but that’s life I guess!

Here’s hoping the next several months go quickly now, with as few casualties as possible. Scary isn’t it?
