Hi ladies,

Currently nearly 22 weeks pregnant and I’ve just been reading this article:

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/10/no-elevated-risk-coronavirus-pregnancy

Basically it said that whilst pregnant women do have altered immune systems which can leave them at risk of catching the flu this has not been seen with the Coronavirus!

Also it says that there is no evidence that the virus can pass to a baby during pregnancy.

So basically I think the take home is that we are at no greater risk of getting the corona than the general healthy population and that as of yet there is no indication that it can be transmitted to our babies!

Hope this helps

Xx

Thanks for this! I had been a bit worried.

In Italy pregnant women who tested positive for Cv have so far given birth to negative babies.
Obviously it can’t be ruled out but it seems pretty clear.

Surely it's too early to know. There will be no indication it is being transmitted to babies or damaging them in any way, because there hasn't exactly been a clinical trial.

Obviously let's hope it is safe.

Actually, there was a case of coronavirus in a newborn in China in February. It's not clear whether it happened in the womb and maybe the baby contracted it from mother at birth.

I think it's only sensible to be careful now that I'm pregnant. I know my body and just how bad my immune system is and my pregnancy so far has been difficult. The truth is this disease is new and there's so much we don't know about it. We also don't have a clue about any possible long term consequences. There's no need for panic, but it shouldn't be taken too lightly either.

Absolutely agree to everything said above!

Personally I’m taking the extra precautions but trying not to terrify myself/drive myself insane with unnecessary worry!

I will adjust my thinking as the research/advice develops x
