Hi

I’ve been with my partner for a few years now and found out this week that we have somehow managed to conceive.

I have 2 grown up boys from my previous marriage (18,22) and he has a grown son (20). But lm really worried as much as lm happy as it was unexpected but is 45 just to old? I have so many mixed emotions right now and don’t know if lm just being pathetic 😭😭..

It is also very very early days we are 4 weeks and 4 days.

Thank you xx

Hi, I am now 27 weeks and 43 years old with a 12 and 16 year old. This pregnancy wasn't planned or wanted (sounds horrible I know) I am still somewhat in denial but all of my friends and family (excluding my hormonal 16 year old, who is currently in year 11 and taking her GCSEs) have been super supportive and excited. When I attend clinic, it is full of expectant mums in their 40s, we are not alone. Congratulations!

Have you spoken to the midwife about booking health checks? I would to this asap because (if you want them) you have to move quickly to get screening tests done at the right times.

I'm 42 and will have just turned 43 by the time I give birth.
Second child, very much planned and wanted. O already have a 14 month old, so will be very busy come July!

Hi, I’m 20w today and 45..(ivf baby, had mmc 2y ago) so very much wanted baby . We still can’t believe it’s happening for us to the point I’m scared to enjoy it as worried something will go wrong again if it makes sense.

Congratulations to you all!

Sunshinebear75 · 11/03/2020 08:37

@aderyn19 I spoke to them Monday they are going to get me in in early for some scans. I'm not sure what they do then as it's been 18 years nearly since my last child. 🥰

Hi OP, Congratulations.

I had my ds - my first - at 45. The pregnancy was a surprise but easy, I had swollen ankles at 37 weeks but otherwise I wasn’t even sick.

The labour was longer than average but he was my first so the midwife had told me to expect that. I delivered normally, they gave me three days in the hospital to rest and then we went home.

He’s 11 now. So far it’s been fine. No problems at all. I work full time, he’s at senior school.

As long as you are generally fit & healthy, you’ll cope. At least you know what you are doing. I hadn’t a clue Smile

I had my first at 36, second at 42 after a MMC, am 45 and tested positive today. Guessing I could be as much as 20 weeks, thought I was peri-menopausal but my tummy suddenly popped, no other symptoms. Going to feel like a right numpty when I ring the midwives...

Midlifebaby · 12/03/2020 06:07

Congratulations, that’s great news!

I’m 49 and 31w pregnant with my first (and probably only through ivf)

I was expecting to be treated like an oddity/wrapped in cotton wool/ highly medicalised but after all of the tests, from downs to gestational diabetes have come back negative or low risk, my hospital (St George’s London) isn’t planning any intervention other than recommendation to induce at 40w if baby doesn’t come on its own. I was most concerned about placenta failure towards the end, but have been reassured that even if I am induced (and I can decline or elect for CS instead) that it would be done at the hospital under close monitoring.

Good luck with your pregnancy xxx

Wow, that must have been a shock. Congratulations!!! What did your boys say btw?

Lollygaggles · 12/03/2020 13:49

Huge congratulations. I had DS ( first and only) at 44 and it's hard work, but you've done it before, you'll be fab. Enjoy this new adventure. Flowers
