Had a early scan today as had a slight bleed last week and they found a heartbeat! But also a sack of blood just under the baby’s sack - it’s pretty common as per the midwife but just wondered if anyone had this ? Did the blood sack just vanish? Thanks x

Hello,

I had this in my current pregnancy, I had a couple of major bleeds, one even blue lighted to hospital, but baby is totally fine. Mines is still here, I have extra scans and have to be extra careful when I lift etc.

Try not to worry, easier said than done I know, but 90% of the time they disappear.

I had the same with my first baby and everything was normal. If so remember correctly, they told me that the hematoma will absorb and I just had to be careful not weighting heavy things (I think). I had small bleeds at the beginning of the pregnancy and went in to have a healthy beautiful baby : )

I currently have one. It just means you'll probably be consultant led and have extra scans. I've had a huge bleed, and weeks of spotting on and off. I was told it can either re absorb or I'll bleed it out. I was also told that if there is no evidence of the bleed at my next scan, I'll still need extra monitoring to be on the safe side. Fingers crossed everything is fine for you x

I had a big bleed at 5 and half weeks-terrified. Had a haemotoma -continued to bleed for 4-6 weeks but finally it absorbed and disappeared and currently 26 weeks and haven’t bled for months. It’s scary but hopefully should be fine. Good luck.

Yes. I started bleeding heavily (like a big period) the night before my 12 weeks scan following sex (contractions from orgasm can trigger the bleeding). The scan showed a rather big hematoma, it was pretty scary to see, but the midwife and the doctor she consulted said it's common and should resolve on its own. I was told to rest, not to lift heavy things and not to have intercourse for a few weeks.

Had another emergency scan 5 days later after more fresh red blood and then another one as a checkup at 15 weeks. That one showed a totally clear placenta and I was told I can have intercourse again. Also, they continued with midwife led care, they didn't switch to a consultant or GP.

Yes - in my current pregnancy. Had a big red bleed at 6 weeks, then brown spotting for another 2 weeks. Totally cleared up and gone after that. Mine was quite big - 4x4cm. It looked massive compared to the baby! Just take it easy - no sex/orgasms and no heavy lifting.

Sorry to jump on your thread, but could I just ask what you all consider a heavy bleed? I've had two 'heavy' bleeds in the past 2 weeks. The first filled half a sanitary towel in one go, my next I was overflowing a pad in one go and then filled another pad within 30 minutes. I then passed a clot the size of my palm! I don't worry as much as I did at the time as baby like the OP has been fine each time. It's been great reading these positive stories but I just want to know if my idea of a heavy bleed matches others?

Thanks everyone - I guess you just can’t help but worry but hopefully it will sort itself out xx

@Ajahd -for me a heavy bleed felt like period and I was dripping in toilet floor at my work. Wore the heaviest pads for a few days.

I have had a previous miscarriage and the bleeding was as heavy as this so quite significant.
