Girls, I'm starting a new thread because I feel guilty overtaking POSITIVE's thread about pregnancy symptoms disappearing at 9 weeks. It looks like there are a couple of us who're waiting for a re-scan sometime next week to confirm which way our babies-to-be will choose to go. If you're one of us - feel free to join this thread and share in this "anything -but - wonderful" experience!

Ilike - how are you doing?? Keep thinking about you. Hope things are easing off and it hasn't been too bad.

Kat - how are you? I have been lifting my 4 yr old all day but still no sign of a bleed!

Glad to read you are both really positive - I am finding it hard. We have been trying for this pregnancy for 3 yrs - I have PCOS and DH has v bad sperm count. In the last 18 months we have had 4 cycles of clomid and 2 cycles of IVF... all BFN. I actually got pregnant 2 weeks after our last IVF failed & have been told this is because the drugs still overstimulate you for about 3 months. As we can't afford anymore IVF I don't think there is any chance of getting pregnant again. But we are so lucky to have DD - my consultant said she was a fluke!

Hugs to you both

Hi RosyBelle! You're so sweet for thinking of me. ILTS is doing better. Don't know if you know from other threads (we also are now on miscarriage/ bereavement www.mumsnet.com/Talk/1367/383972#7871740 sadly...) but ILTS is through her mc and is resting and recovering.

I just came back from my rescan and all was confirmed so I am now waiting to hear from the hospital when they can fit me in for D&C. I'm really hoping it's before this weekend.

I am so glad you're spending time with your DD~ I think we're already way more fortunate than many since we do have our wonderful rays of sunshine. I too try to hang out with my little munchkin as much as possible (even though I don't think it was lifting him that caused me starting to bleed - I've been bleeding and cramping on and off since Saturday with no results though!)

And as far as you thinking that this was it for you... you just NEVER never know. We were TTC for almost 2 years before I got pg. Lost that baby (I think I told you at 35 weeks). I got pg in 6 months! Now that after all the stress and pain and you name it! Had our wonderful DS.

This last time - we were shocked and still don't know how I could have gotten pg... So, life works out in mysterious ways, sweetie!

ilike - i had the tablets with my mc and found that they worked well. have you taken the second lot yet? i started bleeding after the first but didnt get going till i had taken the first lot of the second lot of pills (does that make sense?) i didnt find it very painful more like niggly contractions.

hope everyone on heres well x

katendmom · 12/09/2007 20:58

Spugs, are you in UK? I am in USA and they don't have pills... or at least it is not a common way of dealing with MC

Oh and RosyBelle, do come and join us on Mumsnet Discussions: Conception : ttc after mc July/August 2007 - shiny new thread as the other was full (535 messages)

Thanx Kat - will take a look... and have a look at the m/c thread too...

The pills being mentioned are not used all over the UK - I asked my doctor about them today and he said they won't prescribe it where I am... if it doesn't happen naturally soon then I'll end up with an ERPC (a D&C)

hiya, im going to tell you my story and hope it doesnt scare you too much

Well as you know i took the tablet and started bleeding on monday night, i knew it was serious as i was bleeding in the bath and that NEVER happens, anyway i continue bleeding all through yesterday (tuesday) and up until about 4:30 i was fine. At 4:30 i started to feel an enormous pressure on my cervix, almost like i am sitting on an apple if that makes sense.

We manage to do the MIL visit and get to the chip shop before it was really bad. We get in and first thing i do is run to the loo all excited at the prospect of it all being over soon!!!

Anyways i sit down on the loo and pass the largest clot ive ever seen in my life! the toilet bowl was red! It was quite scary but i was in no pain. I go and eat my tea but have to keep making frequent visits to the loo as you just "know" when you are ready to pass another, Even at this point im still in no pain just very uncomfortable. My dp gets the kids to bed for me and i think "theres no point going downstairs as im only going to be back up in 2 mins anyway!" So i sit and talk to justjules on msn! I start asking her different questions about wether this is it etc and she talks me through it all, so there was me sitting there all smug thinking ha this doesnt hurt and basically sticking my fingers up at the nurses!....

Then the pain starts, full on labour contractions lasting around 40 seconds followed by streams of blood and clots. coming every 2 minutes or so!! I was in agony, i couldnt sit i couldnt stand i couldnt lie down, i had already took 3 painkillers but they didnt help any. I endured this pain for about 3 hours thinking it will pass soon, but then i started getting very woozy had gone a deathly white colour and was feeling very drowsy!

I finally decide, i cant do this anymore!!! so ring my mum to come and sit with the kids and dp rushes me up to the hospital (20 minutes away!). We get there and im immediatly given a bed. I lie down and can just feel trickling so get dp to have a look and yup, the fresh pad i had put on before leaving was full and had gone through onto my pants and through my trousers onto the bed

After about half an hour although it seems like 4 hours! the doctor came to see me and said she wanted to do an internal, so i throw away my ruined pants into the bio waste bag and cover myself up. She put the cranky open thingy in and said oooh i can see a large clot here, so gets a pair of grabbers and starts pulling, i can see dps face as she keeps grabbing clots, then i felt her grab one that must have been inside my cervix. Brought tears to my eyes i tell you!! She checked the bleeding etc and said it seems to have slowed down alot so i can go home if i like. I say yes as i want to be back with my kids. So she gives me a pair of hospital pants and an industrial sized pad and said if i fill that in an hour and a half then get straight back up there! Just like that the pain is gone! but i was feeling very battered and bruised she has given me some strong tablets but i havent had to take one

This is my experience and i thought i would share it as it is really not very nice! especially if you have little ones running around! I would have much rather been in hospital for it as the pain was unbearable! I was so close to having a blood transfusion or being put on a drip. If i had to do it again or even if i have to do it again it would be d&c all the way, in done and out. Waiting for it to go naturally is basically a ticking time bomb. Everyone has seen how positive i have been during my m/c and im not ashamed to say i was petrified!

If you do choose to leave it to go natural read my story and please know exactly what to expect! if you feel that your blood loss is to much then get to your hospital and quick! I really do not mean it to scare anyone honest

spugs · 13/09/2007 08:59

ah hun sorry you had sch a crap time wwith it, i had the 'grabbers' thing as well and luckily for me that was the worst bit.

did they only give you one tablet and send you home? in my unit they wont give you the tablets after 9 weeks of pregnancy either!

i had to have one tablet, go home then go back in 48 hrs later. then i had to stay in while i had the treatment 3 sets of 2 tablets 3 hrs apart (my hospital dont let you have it at home due to the risk of major bleeding) had to use a bed pan in the loo as they needed to examine what came out!

kate - yes i am in england, i think some places dont use the tablet due to the risk of heavy bleeding, mine wasnt that bad though.

iliketosleep · 13/09/2007 09:02

yes hun i had one thablet then was supposed to go back in yesterday morning for the rest of the course but as it turned out it all happened before, i had a scan on monday and it said the baby had slipped down to above my cervix so i think the tablet just gave a little bit of a helping hand. Im glad its over but i wish i could have done it yesterday with the right care and painkillers available

kensgirl · 13/09/2007 18:16

Rosybelle, just to say I'm so sorry. I've just seen you mentioned on the ttc after mc thread, my heart sank. Hope you are managing, even though I know you won't be. Thinking of you x

Ladies, many of you I don't know, bu I've been where you are now, waiting to find out if your dreams will come true, or crumble at your feet. Love and best wishes for you all. xx

hi everyone
especially Katendmon, Rosybelle, iliketosleep

sorry havent been keeping up with your news for the past few days but i'm here now.

i'm so sorry that you all are having to go through this.
Reading your messages just brings back memories of my mmc 18mths ago. it makes it feel like only last week.
I know how awful things must be for you all at the moment however i have no idea how it must be to have to go through this at home.
when i had the mc I was induced in hosp and had to have an emg D&C as i was bleeding so heavily.

I can only hope that you all begin to heal quickly.
as someone told me - just look up to the sky at night and remember that one of those little stars twinkling in the sky is your special little light.

HUGS TO YOU ALL

katendmom · 14/09/2007 14:23

Oh positive, you're so sweet! Thank you, hun. Talking about stars - have you ever heard about "Star Registry?" Check out this link www.starregistry.com/

What you can do is actually name a star after somebody special in your life. They will issue an official certificate and will send you a star map, helping you to locate the star that has been named after your loved one in the sky. We did that in loving memory of our DD who we lost very late in pg.

But on a more positive side - how are you positive How are you feeling? What's new?

hi katendmon

have taken a 2 weeks off work as i'm soooo tired, sleep about 4 hours during the day at the minute and thats after a good nights sleep! I'm also eating like you'd never believe - as soon as I feel the nausea starting I have to eat or I end up retching all day which is just awful but I promised myself I wouldn't complain after my scan last week. so hoepfully the tiredness and nausea are good signs that things are still going well.

I'm waiting for a date for my booking in appt but was told that the hosp are going to leave it until 13wks because of my previous mmc so i've still another couple of weeks to wait - fingers crossed until then.

thanks for the info about the star registry

hope you are starting to feel better XO

katendmom · 14/09/2007 18:19

Aawww these are ALL signs of a very healthy pg. I remember when I was pg with my DS, I could fall asleep standing! I couldn't watch any movie - I'd be asleep 5 min later!

You know what helped me with morning sickness? You'd be surprised - gum! Not any fruity or sweet but rather peppermint type. I'd be chewing away and it really took care of both the sickness and the sudden urges to gobble up food .

It sounds fab that you're taking time off to relax and really look after yourself. Smart move. Keep it up and let us know what you see on your 13 wks scan!

PS Feeling much better physically and hope to be back to normal emotionally after taking some time off this weekend. Unfortunately our ?vacation days bank? isn?t as generous in USA so I only took the day of my D&C off. I do work from home a lot so that helps . Plus I?m greedy ? saving my days off for Christmas so I can have fun with my little DS .

XOXO to you too!

Hey "Positive" just wanted to see how you were doing? Hope everything is fab with your little bean and you

OP posts:
positive · 18/09/2007 08:26

Hi Katendmon,

i'm keeping well, the tiredness is not as bad this weekend which is great
Got the date for my scan which is 5th Oct so still a couple of weeks to go before I'll stop worrying so much. who said the worries started when bb arrived??

Hope you are keeping well.

katendmom · 18/09/2007 16:55

Good luck with your scan . Nope, worries don't stop. We just got back from the hospital with my DS. He is 19 mnth but doesn't talk yet. So, of course we had to check his hearing to make sure he can hear and it's 'speech' delay, not hearing loss. Fortunately he passed his test so it is speech delay. Now off to see a speech pathologist...

So it is true - the only time you don't worry about DC is when you simply dream about them BEFORE you're even TCC'ing LOL

Make sure you tell me what your little bean does when you see him/her on Oct 5!
