Morning sickness, is only short bouts of retching normal?

I am about 8 weeks (I think) and from about 5 weeks I started retching most mornings- this could range from one quick gag to leaning over the toilet retching for a few minutes but not once has anything come up (apart from one morning where I drank some water and that came up into my mouth almost straight away- sorry if tmi!). I don't even really feel nauseous before it happens.

Has anyone else had this as their experience of MS? I keep getting anxious that I haven't had much nausea which I know can be normal but I haven't read a lot about people only having it very mildly like me. Especially as it should be at its worst around about now according to lots of things I've read and if anything its reduced over the last week or so.

Yes completely normal. I have found this time that if I have had a bit of toast or food and the feeling comes back, I go to the toilet and puke and its just yellowy spittle that comes up completely leaving the toast or whatever where it is! Sorry if a bit gross :)

I had one episode of wrenching for about 10 seconds and that was all... I had zero pregnancy symptoms haha! Don’t worry, it’s normal to have no/little morning sickness xxx

I was never sick in the first trimester, just felt a bit queasy, and like you, occasionally retched. It's not a sign anything is wrong - not everyone gets morning sickness or nausea!

Quite normal, only ever happened to me once at the very beginning of pregnancy. I never thought anything of it but obviously glad I didn't go through a lot of nausea as some do.

I retched so much (especially at smells - had to stop cooking fish!) but was only sick once in pregnancy, and that was quite far along, after submitting to a craving for ice cold Ribena and an ice cream at the same time. My stomach objected to that onslaught pretty quickly. But no other actual puking. As others have said, all sorts of things are normal.

You have all made me feel so much better! I just always thought I would be one of those struck with awful sickness for some reason. I've taken to walking to the bathroom every morning not feeling in the slightest bit sick, wait for a second and then comes the retching like clockwork, it makes me feel like it's all in my head especially as I just want to then eat my breakfast straight after like it never happened Hmm

Hfarm1, you hear all sorts. I knew someone who said, "Morning sickness shows your womb is healthy". Well there may be some truth in that, I've never investigated, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't mean your womb is unhealthy if you don't have it! As I said before, I only had one out, clear fluid, very quick and I'm pretty sure my womb was as healthy as any,

Be glad you are as you are.

It's totally normal, I was a retcher (is that even a word Smile) like you and was always gagging even at the thought of a smell, didn't even need to smell it but I was never sick once, everyone is different and everyone gets morning sickness differently xx

I was only sick once at 14 weeks (after taking a pregnancy vitamin on an empty stomach) didn't really wretch at all, did have low key nausea constantly though and the metallic taste. I ate my way through it though and put on over 10 pounds by week 12. Blush

I'm exactly the same! Had my booking appointment yesterday and mentioned it to the midwife and she said that it was perfectly normally and a good sign even though I wasn't being sick. I was worried it wasn't "enough" to be morning sickness if that makes sense but she really reassured me that everything is fine and everyone is different with how their bodies do it.

Yes, normal. With my last two pregnancies, the sickness went by 12 and 11 weeks, but I still threw up and gagged, especially straight after getting up (on an empty stomach) or in cars, without warning. Annoying.

First pregnancy was exactly the opposite. I stopped throwing up, but still felt sick in the morning until well after 20 weeks.
