I will be 17 weeks on wednesday and the 20 week scan seems ages away as its not till 9th april (21 weeks thanks to the NHS been rubbish)
I still haven't felt baby move and I'm finding it really stressful. I just want to know baby is okay and I'm struggling to relax

It's my first and I didn't feel anything until just recently , definitely closer to 19 weeks!
It's hard to relax but not many people feel movements at 17 weeks with their first. All my friends were 18 weeks and above with their first , some closer to 21 weeks.

Well it's not really the NHS's fault you can't feel your baby move. I was gone 20 weeks with my first, I think it's normal. You say you heard the baby's heartbeat last week so you know it's fine. Constantly feeling anxious about things you can't change isn't going to help either.

The NHS is bloody amazing. You should thank your lucky stars for the maternity care that you are receiving, free at the point of care, because you wouldn't get that in many a country around the world.

@bobbypinseverywhere aw amazing, I have a scan on Thursday might mention it and see if they know where it is x

Horehound · 10/03/2020 22:29

That's normal
My app said it's around 18-23 weeks I think and I was around 23 weeks before I felt movement

First babies aren’t usually felt until a lot later, 17 weeks is still very early but I too felt nervous like you - hence why we had a private scan at 16weeks!
I felt my baby for the first time at 21 weeks, a friend of mine not until 24 weeks... same as with the bump - I wanted a cute bump for months but just felt fat instead! Lol
It’s hard being patient, especially when you’ve tried for so long/had heartache from losses but it will come and when it does, it will be worth the wait.
I’m now 31 weeks almost and as much as I still love my bump and feeling those movements, it’s also hard work! Make the most of now when you’re not being woken in the night by a jab to your ribs or a giant belly you can’t get comfy with Smile

Hang on in there -I found that stage really hard. It will suddenly just happen. I knew by 19-20 weeks.

I can’t remember when exactly I first felt proper movements but it was definitely after my 20 week scan cause I remember seeing her doing somersaults on the screen and being amazed that I couldn’t really feel it. So whilst you might have a few more weeks before you feel much, please know that it is totally normally not to feel anything at this stage.

Being able to feel kicks definitely helped me to feel less anxious.

All the best with the rest of your pregnancy!
