Just wondering if midwife will ever ask/mention emergency contraception(morning after pill) that would be displayed in my gp record throughout pregnancy at all?

I really wouldn't have thought so. Conversations around previous contraceptive choices have never come up. You might choose to let the midwife know that you were originally trying to prevent a pregnancy but if it is now wanted it doesn't make any difference at all!

I don't know if this is any help at all, but I had my booking appointment yesterday and the only question that she asking in relation was "when did you stop taking contraception?" - in my case I fell pregnant on the pill so I told her that I stopped taking it when I found out of course, and she just made the note and moved on. They may have to ask a couple of questions but they aren't there to judge you at all, just to make sure you and baby are looked after in the right way Flowers

I haven't been asked anything like that from my GP records. It seems that the midwives dont actually have access to medical history as I had to give them all the details about my asthma, they asked my blood type etc even though it's been tested before etc.

I have once been asked if the baby was planned and if I'm happy about the pregnancy. This was part of the "wellbeing" questionnaires, they also ask you about domestic abuse, social services involvement etc. I suppose you could decline to answer those questions if you preferred.

I don't think they really look, I told her about the medication I had taken up to my BFP (pain killer) and she didnt know about it. She only went into my GP records when I told her he'd done bloods and there was something funny on it. I actually brought up the painkiller as we were trying to work out if there was anything that could have cause the funny liver reading, she never asked.

Mine just asked if it was planned and then didnt ask about any previous contraception.

In my area, midwives do not have access to your medical records at all. They work on entirely different systems. My midwife asks me about GP appointments/health conditions & what was said/prescribed etc! They can’t even see if you’ve had your flu/whooping cough jabs.

My GP can see blood tests done by my midwife & my midwife can see bloods done by my GP. These are held on another system they both log into!

It may differ by area though..

Areas differ.
Midwives usually work on the computer system that the local hospital does. (Not always)

GPs don't always use same system.

If your appointment is at your surgery but with your midwife, they put their card in the computer system and will access all your medical records that are held with your GP.
They'll go through the booklet with you and fill in the details like dates etc of last antibiotic etc from viewing your medical record.

If it's not at your surgery, they'll be asking you the questions and it's down to you to decide what you fill in.
You then take this booklet to each appointment (ultrasound team, etc) so that all the hospital staff that care for you, can record information.
