What should I buy first?

I'm only 17 weeks but there is a NCT nearly new sale this weekend that I want to go to and might buy a few little bits. (I know it's early...). I've not looked at anything yet so am mainly going just for fun.

Are the NCT sales worth it? Is it ok to buy a few bits of clothes if they are cheap? I'm due August so would vests and things a good idea? What bargains have you picked up?

Buy whatever you want when you want to! There’s no rules , whenever you feel ready. We’ve got a few bits already and I’m 15 weeks, getting the bigger things like the cot and pram when I’ve had the 20 week scan (so anytime after that)

NCT sales are brilliant! I've been a buyer, seller and volunteer. Definitely get there as early as you can as they get so busy.
I'm waiting until 20 weeks to buy bigger stuff as I've had three MCs, but with my first daughter I bought stuff really early on!
Have fun!

Yes will definitely wait to get pram, cot etc and the big stuff as would want to research that first and wait until the 20 week scan

Any tips about useful things to buy? What clothes are easiest? Any particular must haves? I literally have no idea where to start!!

No actual experience here Grin but I’m also 17 weeks and due August. DH and I have decided on our travel system and have decided to buy before 20 weeks if we get a good bargain at the Manchester baby show next week. However if not then will order after the 20 week scan. We’ve begun buying a few lightweight basic outfits and plan on getting some extra large muslins to use as blankets if we have a hot summer. I’ve been given good advice to pick up one pack of baby wipes, nappies or other basic necessities every few weeks in a food shop so you can slowly begin collecting without noticing the cost.

@itsemily oooh that’s exciting what have you got?

@DaisyF1986 so sorry to hear about your losses Flowers. You sound like an expert at NCT sales! Glad to hear they are worth it as heard they can be scary. What things are good to pick up there?

@Annafs I’m due 15th! When are you due? That’s a good idea about the wipes etc. What travel system are you going for? I find it all really complicated as their is so much choice!

Ooooh a piece of advice

Whatever travel system you go for - if you go in to mamas and papas and can show it’s been on sale in a physical store (ie not an internet one) anywhere in the country they’ll price match it for you

We live in London and managed to find some shop in Glasgow which has ours, M&P knocked nearly £500 off the cost of it and £150 off the cost of a car seat

I was quite overwhelmed when I went to an Nct sale with my first thankfully I had a friend with me and she insisted I buy a massive bunch of Muslims and baby vests, I had a July baby and so they were perfect. People tend you buy presents which are little outfits so the basics are a great thing to pick up at nct sales

We’ve got a changing mat, the room is fully equipped drawer wise as it was the spare room so it’s all painted , got a wardrobe and cabinets already , just need to add some wall art and my Dad is buying us the cot bed when I’m further along. We’ve got about 10 Muslin cloths , 6 baby grows, mittens , hats, little bits like that. Also been given a baby bath off my grandma and lots of bibs !

@bobbypinseverywhere I’m due 13th so very close! I knew i would get stressed over the travel system so started researching ages ago to get my head around what I wanted. Originally was going for either an Egg or M&P Ocarro. DH vetoed the egg based on the price apparently being prettier wasn’t worth the extra £400 sadly and I was really keen on the Ocarro until we went to a M&P parents to be session and tried it out. It’s really lovely but fairly heavy to lift and I’m quite petite so changed mind last minute for a M&P flip xt3. Which is exactly the same but thinner and the suspension isn’t as good but it felt significantly lighter. Sorry for the essay lol but I’d definitely recommend going to a parents to be session as we got to try the prams out, got some advice on hypnobirthing and slings and they gave us a free rattle too as a bonus!
