7 weeks and the tiredness is nothing I've experienced. A dragging, heavy, bodily tiredness like I've been drugged. I'm fit, healthy, usually active. Taking folic and vits plus iron.
What else can I do?

Unfortunately nothing, you just have to wait for it to pass I’m afraid. I remember this all too well and I found the relentless exhaustion more difficult to deal with than the morning sickness. You will have good days and bad days, just try to rest and have naps as much as you can and remember that it will pass eventually!

xxxemzyxxx · 07/03/2020 17:57

I know the feeling. I’m 9 weeks now and my exhaustion was crippling! My SIL recommended I try spatone liquid iron supplement. I’ve had it twice a day in orange juice for a week and I have to say, it really has taken the edge off! Doesn’t abolish it completely, but has definitely made it more bearable.
I’ve also taken Fridays off for the next few weeks to add onto the weekend, the extra day where i can just laze around and sleep has also been so worth it!
Weeks 6-8 where definitely my worst weeks. Just try and rest whenever you can.

AlviesMam · 07/03/2020 18:05

Same here! I'm 6 weeks and feel hungover.
I've just had a weeks holiday so dreading the tiredness going back to work.
I work an 11 hour day including travel time so it's really not easy to have a nap! :(

Delbelleber · 07/03/2020 18:06

Wait for it to get better then find yourself unable to sleep Confused

RhymingRabbit3 · 07/03/2020 18:07

Not much you can do unfortunately. It does pass eventually!

Blurby · 07/03/2020 18:09

Get your bloods checked - I have been exhausted and I'm now 27 weeks. Got admitted to hospital last night and turns out I'm severely anemic 😔. Best to rule it out.

Margo34 · 07/03/2020 18:29

I'm 11 weeks and utterly exhausted too. Weekends are written off for sleeping. Today for example, I got up, had breakfast, sat down on the sofa and unintentionally fell asleep for 2 and a half hours more!
I'm an active person and it feels like such a waste of a good, rain free day but it is clearly what my body needs right now.
When I apologised to my DH he said, "it's OK, it's just what you do now. Since you're cooking us a treat I made us some flapjacks." 😂😍

Bezalelle · 07/03/2020 19:05

The exhaustion is unreal.

It was my birthday last weekend. DH asked what I wanted to do, and I said "sleep". I got out of bed only for meals!

I'm lucky I work from home and can nap in the afternoon.

Pinkflipflop85 · 07/03/2020 19:11

Sleep as much as you can! In the first trimester I would put my 5 year old to bed and then crash out in my own bed straight after!

mOmShanti · 07/03/2020 19:13

Oh god, I’m in my 6th week and also really struggling with this! I’m exhausted by walking upstairs let alone doing “normal life”! I’m having to sleep during the day whenever I get a chance. The worst thing is that as a fitness instructor I have to be super active at work. And as I’m freelance if I take time off I don’t get paid!!!!! I’m stressing because I’m worried my job may be too physical for the first trimester. 😞
I read that at this early stage our bodies are using more energy at rest than they usually would at exercise... so this exhaustion makes real sense 😂

esmerelda1988 · 07/03/2020 19:20

It eased up for me recently, nearly 10 weeks. Still tired but have some energy to actually do something other than lie in bed every evening. Hope it does for you too, it was horrible whilst it lasted!

sequinednostrils · 07/03/2020 19:27

Not just me then!
That gives me hope it may lessen as the weeks go by.
Yes the walking up the stairs- it's like climbing a mountain!
@xxxemzyxxx I'm going to order some spatone right now. Anything's worth a try thanks.

8 weeks here and also finding the exhaustion so difficult. I can’t do anything - the house is such a mess as I just can’t summon the energy for normal household tasks. Hopefully will start to improve soon - I just keep telling myself 4 weeks to go!

Bol87 · 07/03/2020 19:57

It’ll get better Smile then worse again when it’s too uncomfortable sleep & you need 3000 wee’s!

Enjoy that you can just rest up in your first pregnancy.. sadly the second time around isn’t so peaceful, my 2.5 year won’t much let me sit down 😴

20wedding19 · 07/03/2020 20:07

Another sympathiser here!
I am 7 weeks today and actually did the pregnancy test in the first place as I was so ridiculously tired!
Mix this with having to eat at least once an hour to stop all encompassing nausea I'm find it tough but I just trust that it can't last forever!?

BertieBotts · 07/03/2020 20:09

First trimester tiredness is something else. It does suddenly lift in the second. Then comes back but only about half as bad in the third. Less hormonal, more physical (dragging a bump around).

Give yourself permission to go to work, eat, shower and sleep and that's all and that's OK.

MummyMilla · 07/03/2020 20:16

Can I join please? 6 and a bit weeks and really struggling! I haven't helped myself as my new business/social enterprise has also just kicked off, which is FULL ON - I genuinely feel like my head is about to fall off. I am dropping balls all over the place, but have a wonderful co-founder who is so understanding.

I'm just trying to be in bed for 9:30pm every night. I'm also planning to keep every day free to WFH (bed) and just chill wherever possible.

Prettylittlelady · 07/03/2020 21:33

I feel your pain OP, I’m 8+2 and the exhaustion is unreal and like nothing I’ve ever experienced before, I have to say it has for slightly better in the last week but today has been another awful day where I’ve just slept for hours and hours in the day. Weekdays I’m asleep before 9pm and don’t have the energy to clean my place or make proper meals because the thought of it is just too much. This is one of my only symptoms so although it’s hard, I’m grateful in a way as it’s somewhat reassuring.

aneliese · 07/03/2020 22:03

Same for me. After what felt like a never ending 6 weeks of utter exhaustion (napping whenever I could, going to bed early) and constant nausea, I've hit 12 weeks and I'm feeling a hell of a lot better. Hang in there. I've been completely miserable but just kept telling myself (and had many others telling me) that it will pass, and it will.

Be kind to your body, sleep whenever you can, eat whatever you need to and don't feel guilty. It helped me to think that at least all these symptoms are signs that the baby is doing its thing in there :)

Jesskir89 · 07/03/2020 22:38

I was like this in the first trimester, got better in the second, then sorry to say I'm 38 weeks today and have barely slept for weeks worse than ever!

Survivingmy3yearold · 07/03/2020 23:09

I'm 5+3 and struggling massively with the exhaustion! Had nothing like this with DD4, in fact my first clue I was pregnant was a BFP at almost 10 weeks.
