Sharp pain in vagina - 16 weeks

Hi all,
Just tried to ring the community midwives to be told no one is on until Monday so I just wondered if anyone else has experienced anything like this so early on?

I’ve been experiencing shooting pains in my vagina for the past couple of days - maybe 5-6 times per day and only lasting a couple of seconds each time. I have no bleeding or anything, just these pains that make me wince.

I’ve heard of this happening way later on in pregnancy, when the baby is sitting on a nerve etc, but is this something that can happen early on?

I’ve had this for weeks (I’m 17 weeks now) and from what I’ve read it sounds like something called lightning crotch, it gives me a shock sometimes it’s a bit uncomfortable!

It’s lightening crotch and it’s bloody sare!! I’m 20 weeks now and have had it since 14 weeks. Don’t worry about it :) I was worried too but midwife says it’s just pain because there’s a big ol’baby and a large uterus ‘resting’ on your cervix/vagina. Hope all goes well! Xxx

Lightning crotch, also known as fanny daggers! Grin

Haha thanks everyone!

I thought lightning crotch didn’t happen until 30+ weeks! Although I’m sorry you all had to go through it, I’m really really glad it’s normal!

Faaaaaanny daaaaaaaggers 😂😂

I literally posted about the same thing here about 14 weeks onwards (21 weeks now).

It was literally a roulette between my foof, my cervix and my bum hole as to which was going to get the stabbing pain next!!

A warm bath really helps and if it’s any consolation they’re gone now xx
