Polyhydramnios advice pleeeeaasseee

I'm 29weeks and have been told I have polyhydramnios. The sonographer and midwives were great but the doctor who took me to a private room after all my monitoring was a bit crap. She didn't explain anything about my scan results or what to expect. All she said is that I'll have another scan in 4 weeks.
I'm so beyond uncomfortable with back, hip and pubic bone pain as well as feeling like I'm carrying around a giant boulder, I thought I was being a wimp but I'm measuring the size of someone at 35weeks so I feel less bad about moaning all the time.
I work by myself between 24-31hours as a support worker and I'm wondering when I should leave my position as I'm starting to struggle and if something were to go wrong I can't immediately leave my post and go to the hospital.
Has anyone else had this? What was your experience and advice?

I had this at the end of my first pregnancy. It can resolve on its own, I believe, but mine did not. I was on the antenatal ward for a week before a csection as a precautionary measure, although whether that’s appropriate will depend on how much fluid you actually have.

I appreciate it could be scary to be alone, given the advice if your waters break.

Are you able to have a phone with you?

I really did feel uncomfortable, and one thing no-one mentioned was that all that free fluid meant that a big baby (8’11) was still doing full somersaults the day before he was born - odd to feel; fascinating to watch; and a bit remarkable for the docs and midwives to have to deal with.

I will say that sleeping was more comfortable for me when a little propped up. And I did water yoga, which definitely helped me feel better

Thank you for your reply! What week did you end up in the hospital before your c section?
I don't forsee this clearing up on its own sadly, I'm like a whale. I can feel myself gradually getting bigger and having more discomfort. The only position I've found comfortable is on my knees leaning over my bed.

Did you find it harder to distinguish kicks? I can feel him swirling about but his kicks aren't as prominent as they were 4weeks ago. I've had to really concentrate and prod my belly to feel him

I can keep my phone on me but I can't leave my post immediately because I'm with a vulnerable adult, I'd need to get someone to come in and cover me but it could potentially take hours for that to happen. I'm struggling with my job because it's a lot of moving and handling. I'm up at 4.30am to work a full 24hours sometimes longer. Not sure how much longer I can cope. Just wondering what would be a sensible week to call it quits. I was expecting to leave at week 37 but I really don't think I can last 8 more weeks.

Also loving the water, it's so lovely having the pressure off for a few hours a week, it's glorious.

Hi! I was hospitalised at 37+6, and had the section at 39. Had a few scans before that though, and they were monitoring. I believe that it will go fairly late if it goes (although don’t quote me!).

I think you need to speak to your consultant and your midwife and really get a plan together, then take that to your employer. I’m desk bound, so less of an issue.

In another medical emergency, surely if you had to call an ambulance for yourself, you’d have to go on paramedic advice, rather than waiting for a replacement? Say you broke your leg falling down the stairs, or similar - what would they do then?

Have you had the tests to see if it’s being caused by something, or if it’s just one of the (predominantly) random cases (mine was)?

Please try not to worry too much

I went for a scan on Wednesday, he's measuring normal for 29weeks and doesn't appear to have any abnormalities. I had the GTT not long ago and everything came back fine, not sure if I'll have another one. No-one explained how much excess fluid I was carrying around. All I was told was to come back in 4weeks and not to Google polyhydramnios, obviously I have but I'm not overly worried after reading a lot of other women's accounts. I would have just liked a bit of extra information about my body to know what I should and shouldn't be doing as of now.
My boss is asking me when I'll be leaving now as she's doing to rota. I'm contemplating not going back after my annual leave at the end of this month just by looking at this growth chart, if I continue to grow I could be measuring 40weeks when I'm only 31weeks, horrific!
When did you stop working?
